Another success story!

Arlyne was a patient at Newport Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a lumbar spine fusion that limited her ability to perform her daily activities with new spinal precautions. Alongside the dedicated staff and Arlyne’s "go get’em" attitude, she was able to regain her strength and learn new techniques to tackle challenges safely. Arlyne made remarkable progress in her endeavors and is back home with her family!

Congrats, Mr. Kesinger!

Phillip Kesinger was admitted to Newport Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Newport Beach, CA, following a hospitalization for pulmonary edema and difficulty walking. Phillip worked very hard with his physical and occupational therapists to regain his function and strength. He made improvements in his mobility, balance, and independence in self-care. We are so proud of him and are excited for him to be able to return home to resume doing the things he loves!

Joan Bodner was hospitalized after a fall down the stairs that led to a decrease in her activity tolerance. After being admitted to Newport Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Newport Beach, CA, Joan worked very hard with her physical and occupational therapists to regain the function, strength, and confidence that she had lost. She has gone from being bed-bound to walking 90 feet without shortness of breath! We are so proud of her and excited for her to be on the right track toward returning home!

How did Generations Healthcare get its start?

We began operations in January 1998 with a single 89-bed skilled nursing facility. Since then, we have grown to 29 facilities comprising over 3,300 licensed beds!

When Generations began business, we started with a very simple business strategy: focus on quality and service while remaining mindful of the challenges and changes facing older adults in today’s world. Since our start, Generations has established an excellent reputation in the communities served by our facilities. We’ve built this reputation through a concerted focus on quality and service.

Mrs. Nancy Spilly was admitted to Newport Nursing & Rehabilitation in Newport Beach, CA, for therapy services after being hospitalized for back pain. After a few weeks of hard work and determination paired with a good sense of humor and the dedication of our physical and occupational therapists, Mrs. Spilly regained her strength, mobility, and independence. We are so proud of her and are excited for her to get back to life!

What is group therapy, and why is it important?

In group therapy, participants are exposed to different points of view. There’s an opportunity to give and receive support from others. Individuals learn to improve their communication skills, become more self-aware, and express their feelings.

Another success story!

Odilia Esparaza was admitted to Newport Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Newport Beach, CA, following fractures to her left hip, shoulder, and pelvis. She was unable to use her left arm initially and had difficulty walking and performing her daily activities of living. However, following two months of intensive physical and occupational therapy, Odilia was able to be discharged home to her family, thanks to her motivation along with the dedicated staff of Newport Nursing & Rehab.

What's the difference between psychology and psychiatry?

While both types of providers address mental, emotional, and behavioral challenges, they do so through different lenses.

Psychologists use practices like talk therapy to uncover underlying issues. They help patients understand how their thoughts and behaviors interconnect, equipping patients with new perspectives to foster healthier habits and behaviors.

On the other hand, psychiatrists take a more biological approach, examining brain chemistry and other physiological factors influencing emotions and behaviors. With their medical expertise, they can prescribe medications and utilize diagnostic tools.

After being admitted to Newport Nursing & Rehabilitation in Newport Beach, CA, Barbara worked very hard with her physical and occupational therapists to regain the function and strength that she had lost. She has gone from being bed-bound to walking 175 feet! We are so proud of her, and we are excited for her to return home and resume doing the things she loves.
