Dear students and families,

As most of you have heard by now, it is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the close of MusicLoveAcademy. We have been honored to provide our community with music lessons for the past three years, and will miss working with our students and families immensity.

This is a decision that comes after many months of deliberation, prayer, and hoping that the studio would be able to turn around and support itself. Sadly, due to the economic uncertainties we are now facing, we haven’t made it there and are being forced to close our doors.

➡️ Please note that our last month at the Marshall studio will be September.

Your private instructor will be reaching out to provide information on how you will be able to continue taking lessons with them. If you are taking piano lessons at the Wakefeild School in the Plains, lessons will continue there as planned.

Thank you for a wonderful three years! Some of you have been with us since we first opened our doors, and much longer for those who started in my personal studio. It has been an honor to serve you with music, and to play such a wonderful part in your lives. I wish you all the best as we go our separate ways.

On this day in 1918, American jazz pianist and composer, Hank jones, was born. Jones didn't miss a day of work from his first recording in 1947 until he passed in 2010. As a solo artist, he released over 60 albums and collaborated with many other artists. In his lifetime, he was nominated 5 times for a Grammy Award and finally won in 2009 with the Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award. If you are unfamiliar with his work, we suggest giving 'The Talented Touch' LP a listen! Happy 104th Birthday, Hank Jones!

Celebrating the 79th birthday and very decorated life of Sir Mick Jagger! Serving as one of rock n' roll's greatest frontmen in The Rolling Stones, has released several solo efforts, and far too many collaborations to list. Jagger was born on July 26th, 1943, just a few months before longtime bandmate, Keith Richards. As a nearly 80-year old British singer, he continues to tour with The Stones. Happy Birthday Mick Jagger!

On this day in 1835, Henryk Wieniawski was born in Lublin, Poland. Regarded as one of the greatest violinists in history, he composed many technically demanding pieces. Celebrate the many accomplishments of this fine composer with us today! Check out our story to hear samples of his popular compositions.

Welcome our newest teacher, and the first to our dance program!

Erin Friedersdorf is a Richmond, Virginia based dancer and choreographer. She earned her bachelor of fine arts in dance from Shenandoah University and has trained with professional dancers Tiffanie Carson, Maurice Fraga, Daniel Padierna, Shylo Martinez, Mary Robare, Matthew Pardo, Ilana Puglia, and Erica Helm. She has studied techniques for teaching dance under the guidance of Robyn Schroth who has more thank 45 years of experience teaching all levels of dance education. Erin has performed for artists Lauren Carnesi Daniels and Kim Fields. She is educated in ballet, contemporary, modern, jazz, improvisation, and commercial styles. Erin works as a freelance dancer and choreographer and specializes in creative movement and improvisational dance styles.

David Michael Bilowus is one of our very talented piano and voice instructors at Music Love Academy. For more details check out his bio below!

David Michael Bilowus holds a Master’s degree in piano performance and Bachelors of Fine Arts degrees in voice and piano from the State University of New York in Buffalo, where he also taught piano. He studied piano and pedagogy with Livingston Gearhart and Carlo Pinto. He has also studied at the Eastman School of Music, the Chautauqua Music Institute, the University of Southern California, and at the University of North Texas. While in California, he studied the Russian technique of piano playing with Surajeet Chatterji.

Chen Liang is a Chinese born-pianist who lives in the D.C. area. She received her bachelor’s degree from Wuhan Conservatory of Music, and she moved to Washington, D.C, in 2015. She completed her graduate studies at the Catholic University of America.

During this period, she worked at CUA as a studio accompanist, and she studied with Dr. Ivo Kaltchev, the chair of the piano department in CUA. As an active performer and collaborative pianist, she has brought her music to many cities in China and the United States, including Wuhan, Shanghai, Beijing, New York, Washington D.C., and Virginia.

Chen Liang is graduating this spring with a Doctor of Music degree in piano performance from Shenandoah Conservatory where she studies with Dr. Alexander Bernstein.

Hailed as “ter-RIF-ic!” by Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, pianist Noah Alden Hardaway is forging a multifaceted concert career as far afield as Spain, Sardinia, and Lithuania, as well as Canada and the United States. This “pianist of extraordinary talent” (Chestnut Hill, PA) spent two summers at the Aspen Music Festival where he appeared as soloist with the Aspen Sinfonia Concertante.

Congratulations, Miss Christina for passing your DMA Lecture recital! You were fantastic! Next, graduation, then, some exciting news for our studio involving this amazing musician and teacher. Can anyone guess what it might be?
