Weymouth Funeral Home and Newport Crematory

Family Owned and Operated Funeral Home Founded by Thomas "TC" and Etta Weymouth in 1960, Weymouth Funeral Home is a full service, family owned funeral home.

For three generations we have served our Hampton Roads neighbors with compassionate and professional attention to detail. Since 1996, their daughter, Veronica Weymouth, has been overseeing the family business; keeping her parents vision of serving the community alive. Her brother-in-law, Monte German, serves as the General Manager. We understand that each service should be as unique as the life be

It is with a heavy heart we say goodbye to our long-time employee, Frankie Green. "Fair Winds and Following Seas"

John “Frank” Franklin Green, Jr., 65, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024, after a long and valiant fight, following a stroke. Frank graduated from Tabb High School in 1977 and enlisted in the United States Navy, serving as a medical corpsman with the Marines. Upon his return home, he joined the York County Sheriff's Dept where he served for 26 years, achieving the rank of Sargent. It was in this capacity that Frank was shot in the line of duty, remarkably returning after his recovery despite a bullet being permanently lodged in his heart. Following his retirement, Frank continued in service to the community as an employee at Weymouth Funeral Home.

He was immensely proud of his Dare roots and was an integral member of the York County Historical Society and the Poquoson Historical Society. His passion was genealogy and was a sought-after speaker due to his encyclopedic knowledge of Virginia history. Indeed, his knowledge didn't stop with historical facts as Frank was a serious trivia enthusiast. He savored his victories at the Gray Goose Trivia Night and was a tough competitor when it came to Trivial Pursuit! He could be found at Pop’s Drive In and loved cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers as well as the Alabama Crimson Tide. He maintained his close relationships with his law enforcement brethren, often organizing retiree luncheons.

Frank was predeceased by his father and mother, John Franklin Green and Betty Jones Green. He is survived by his wife, Karen German Green; his dear friend, Karen Sparrow; brother, Steven (Tina); brothers-in-law, Randy German (Sharon) and Monte German (Janet); sister-in-law, Kristi Cluverius (Joe); his 8 nieces and nephews; 9 great-nieces and nephews; many cousins and a huge cadre of friends and fans from his work as a local historian.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Providence United Methodist Church, 113 Old Dare Rd., Yorktown, VA 23690. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow in the church cemetery with York County Sheriff’s Office Honors.

Expression of sympathy in the form of donations can be made to the Virginia Choral Society at virginiachorasociety.org or to the Virginia Peninsula SPCA. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.

A special thank you to Sylvia Weinstein and the Oyster Pointer for submitting the ad and BGCVP Board Member, Veronica Weymouth (Weymouth Funeral Home and Newport Crematory) for funding the ad. And of course BGCVP Board Member, Jason Blanchette for hosting the ad's event at Anderson's.
