Functional Art
As an interior designer I’ve worked with both extravagant budgets and thrifty budgets, I've learned along the way that there’s a common denominator in both cases, the client (s) always want unique, artistic, functional spaces filled with quality pieces. Often times the quality was already available to me in existing pieces they already owned. Always remembering hard earned money had once been spent on the item and the client had at one time been in love with the piece, so rather than discarding the tiered furniture, I would always suggest refurbishment. It offered an opportunity to create bespoke, with a side order of familiarity, possibly full of memories and sentimentality. I’ve always turned my talents to re-using, re-furbishing, and re-inventing their existing belongings where ever possible. In the process their homes become a showcase of one of a kind works of functional art, tailored to their personal style with panache.
