Took a little break from the action but we wanted to follow up on 2024 BN Tournament Teams. The BN 14s went the farthest in the Babe Ruth Tournaments making it to the Mid-Altantic Region Championship game where they faced the home team from Altoona with a trip to the Babe Ruth 14 Year Old World Series in Eagle Pass, Texas on the line. When all the dust settled, the BN 14s fell to Altoona by a final score of 7-11. So that's a wrap for 2024 BN Baseball! Thanks to all our fans out there - old and new. Thank you the players and coaches of the Broomall Newtown Baseball 13 Yr Old Tournament Team on a great Babe Ruth Tournament Season! Unfortunately their tournament season came to an end on a 'runs allowed' tie breaker in pool play. They have been fun to watch and we see a lot or promise in their play! They represented BN well. Shout out to manager, Steve DiBlasi and coaches Mike Lomas, Tom Tray and Victor Sage.

Saturday, July 20, 2024: The BN 14s continued their winning ways in Saturday's game against Berlin NJ. Maybe it's teamwork, maybe it's the hair...who knows what the secret ingredient is, but the win propelled the team to a spot in the Babe Ruth Mid-Altantic Region Championship Game! The BN14s struck in the bottom of the 1st when Carter Patterson hit an RBI single, Cole Buckley was HBP which scored a run, Roman Alpini hit a sac fly and Chase Magee hit an RBI single. The team then scored 5 runs on 3 hits in the bottom of the second which included RBI singles from Jordan DiPinto and Alpini. A single by Zach Marro extended the BN 14s lead to 11 in the bottom of the 3rd. Patterson earned the win throwing 4 and 1/3 innings of 1-hit ball with 5K's. Final Score: BN 14 - Berlin, NJ 4. Sunday, July 21, 2024: There is never enough baseball and the BN Senior Legion team made sure of that! Currently, Broomall Newtown Senior Legion is hosting the PA American Legion Region 3 Tournament. Games are played at the awesome Marple Newtown High School fields. The BN Opener included an American Legion color guard and an inspirational rendition of the National Anthem sung by 2024 MN grad . The team is playing for a spot in the semis today at 3 pm.

How about getting some press off his monster performance at the Region 3 Tournament! Let’s go BN Senior Legion!

After their nail biting win the BN 13s headed to PNC Park to catch the Phillies play the Pirates. They even got a shout out from the broadcasters! If only the Phillies could have pulled one out for them!

Saturday, July 20, 2024: Despite seeing their 5-run lead whittled down by the end, the BN 13s were able to hold off the team from Westfield, NJ and pull out a win. The game was hanging in the balance in the 3rd inning when Ben Mezer got the call from the bullpen in a bases loaded no out situation. He was able to work his way out of the situation getting a timely double play ball; only giving up 2 runs in the inning. Jacob Jackson got the team on the board with a fielder's choice that scored a run. They added a run in the 3rd on a John Gonzalez RBI double. Westfield tied the game in the bottom of the 3rd but the BN 13s were able to claim the lead back in the top of the 4th on a bases loaded walk to Bradley Dupont, a Gonzalez sac fly followed by another bases loaded walk to Tommy DiBlasi. Both Gonzalez and Seamus O'Sullivan powered the offense today going 3-for-4. Victor Sage collected the save. Final Score BN 7 - Westfield NJ 6. When the game ended, the team was hoping that this win coupled with a series of other events that had to happen would put them in the semis. Unfortunately, their run ended today. Friday, July 19, 2024: A big 6th inning helped the BN 14 Yr. Old Tournament Team defeat the Mifflin County All Stars by a score of 9-1 in game 2 of pool play in the Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Tournament. In the 6th, Shaun Kemble singled scoring one run, Carter Patterson drew a walk scoring one run, Cole Buckley singled scoring 2 runs and Chase Magee hit a sac fly. Patterson started the scoring in the 3rd with his RBI single. Buckley, Magee, Patterson and Kemble each had 2 RBIs in the game. Brady Doyle had another outstanding pitching performance earning the win going 6 innings, striking out 6, allowing only 2 hits and zero runs. Friday, July 19, 2024: The BN 13s were anxious for another crack at the Roxborough team to whom they were 1-1 against in the Babe Ruth state tourney. Unfortunately, today did not go as they hoped. Tomorrow is another day and they have another pool play game tomorrow at 10 a.m. vs. Westfield. We believe!

Thursday, July 18, 2024: A 7-run 2nd inning was the turning point in the Broomall Newtown 13 Year Old Tournament Team's win over Chatham, NJ in game 1 of the Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament. Jacob Jackson singled scoring 3 runs, Cole DeFronzo and Seamus O'Donnell hit RBI singles. Ryan Lomas got the start on the mound going 4 innings with no earned runs. Jackson tossed 2 innings of no-run ball in relief. Final score: BN 11 - Chatham, NJ 3. Next game is a rubber match against Roxborough (the reigning state champs) tomorrow, July 19th at 4:00 p.m. Delco Baseball Now

Thursday, July 18, 2024: The Broomall Newtown 14 Yr. Old Tournament Team started the Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament with some hot bats collecting 11 hits total in the game. Jordan DiPinto and Zach Marro were a force in the middle of the lineup as they each collected 3 hits while hitting back-to-back. DiPinto's RBI single in the 1st inning put the BN 14s on the board. Roman Alpini extended the lead in the bottom of the 3rd with a 2-RBI single. Alpini and Carter Patterson had 2 RBIs each in the game. Aiden Carney added on in the bottom of the 5th with an RBI single that scored Chase Magee. Colin Thomas pitched 6 innings of 1-hit ball earning the win. Final Score: BN 7 - Caldwell 0. Next game is tomorrow, July 19th at 1:00 p.m. vs. Mifflin County. Delco Baseball Now

Tuesday, July 9, 2024: Behind the masterful pitching of Brady Doyle, the BN 14s won the Babe Ruth State title in impressive fashion. A single by Carter Patterson put the BN14s on the board in the bottom of the 1st. They added runs in the 2nd from a Zach Marro RBI double and a Jordan DiPinto RBI single. Shaun Kemble piled on in the 3rd with his own RBI single. Overall, Gavin Tyler went 2-for-4 with 1 run and 3 RBIs in the leadoff spot. Brady Doyle earned the win surrendering only 2 hits, no runs and striking out 6 in 6 innings. Final score: BN 14s - 10; Mifflin County - 0. Next stop Altoona, PA for the Mid-Atlantic Regionals. Game #2, Monday, July 8, 2024: In game 2 on the day, the 14 Yr. Old Broomall Newtown Baseball Tournament Team stunned the perennial powerhouse West End 14U All Stars earning them a spot in tomorrow's 14 Yr. Old Babe Ruth PA State Championship! It was Zach Marro's turn to shine going 3-for-3 with 3 RBI's, 3 runs scored and 2 stolen bases in the game. The BN14s started off with a 10-run 1st inning where the team batted around. Jordan DiPinto got 4 RBI's in 2 at bats in the inning. Cole Buckly tripled scoring 2 runs. Gavin Tyler and Carter Patterson each had RBI singles. Marro drew a bases loaded walk. They added on in the 3rd on a Marro RBI double and a Patterson RBI single. Patterson earned the win for the BN 14s going 5 innings of no-run ball and striking out 5. Final Score: BN 14s - 13; West End - 0. Tomorrow they face the Mifflin County 14U All Stars in the State Championship game! Let's go BN! Bring the 'chip back to BN! Monday, July 8, 2024: Cole Buckley drove in 5 runs on 2 hits to lead the Broomall Newtown 14 Yr. Old Tournament Team past the Ridley District Team 14U. The win earned the BN 14s a trip to the semis vs. West End! They flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first scoring 6 runs with the biggest blow coming from Buckleys 3 RBI triple. An Aiden Carney single helped them extend their lead in the 2nd. They added to their lead in the bottom of the 3rd on RBI doubles from Aidan Matthews, Carter Patterson and Roman Alpini. Nick link earned the win for the BN 14s. The lefty pitched 3 innings of no-hit ball striking out 4. Brennan Gallagher tossed one inning of no-hit ball in relief. Final Score: BN 14s-16 vs. Ridley-1. Next up West End at 2:30 p.m.!!!!!

Sunday, July 7, 2024: The BN Baseball 15/16 Yr. Old Tournament Team defeated the Lackawanna Babe Ruth 15/16U Team in Williamsport, PA. The BN 15/16s started the scoring in the 1st inning on a Johnny Doogan RBI double. Lackawanna answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st but that would be the last time they would be in the lead. Jack Brown's RBI single in the top of the 2nd tied the game. BN gained the lead for good in the 3rd when John Matthews singled and Kevin Wigo hit into a fielder's choice each scoring one run. BN exploded for 6 runs in the 6th. Wigo doubled scoring 2 runs. Justin Ma hit an RBI single. Patience at the plate paid off for Joey Dwyer, Austin Conaty and Brown whose based loaded walks scored runs. Aiden Liberty went 3-for-3 on the day with 3 singles, 2 runs and 2 stolen bases. Conaty got the start on the mound going 6 innings with 6K's. Final score: BN 14 - Lackawanna 3. Next game is tomorrow; awaiting the final results of who the opponent will be. Let's go BN!

Saturday, July 6th, 2024: So, we may overuse the term 'heartbreaker' a lot on this account but tonight's 13 Yr. Old Tournament Team vs. Roxborough was nothing short of a heartbreaker. Going into the bottom of the 7th, the BN 13s were down 6 runs. They battled back with a combo of hits and patience at the plate to tie it up and send the game into extra innings. Roxborough scored one in the top of the 8th and the BN 13s had no answer. However, there is a silver lining in that their overall record at states qualified them for the 13 Prep Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament in Altoona, PA starting July 18th. Let's go BN!

Sunday, July 7, 2024: The Broomall Newtown 14 Yr. Old Tournament Team won big over Ridley 14U today. The BN14s got on the board in the bottom of the 1st on a Jordan DiPinto bases loaded walk followed by a Carter Patterson RBI single and a Roman Alpini 2 RBI double. The second inning saw another 6 runs on RBI hits from Gavin Tyler, Zach Marro, Cole Buckley and Aiden Carney plus another bases loaded walk from Alpini. Tyler earned the win going 6 innings striking out 6. With this win, the team is headed for the semi-finals on Monday. Final Score: BN 14s 12 - Ridley 14U 2. Let's go BN.
