Newtown Ambulance Squad
Newtown EMS is the primary provider of EMS for Newtown Township, Newtown Boro, & Upper Makefield Twp
Progress never takes a holiday. This afternoon our Clinical Coordinator Brandon Lewis, Battalion Chief Kevin Moran and EMT Grant Exler were laminating new “par” list guide cards for our medication modules. As we expand our scope of practice we added several new medications to help do more for our patients.
As you are starting your day you are likely learning of the world wide computer outage of certain systems. Be assured that locally if you need an ambulance, fire department, or police when you call 911 your call will be answered, and the appropriate resources will be dispatched. Be safe !
One year ago today our EMT’s and Paramedics came to work as usual, not knowing what the day would bring. One year ago today Upper Makefield experienced a storm and flooding like no other in recent history. We remember those who lost their lives in the historic flood of 2023, and honor all who responded during the initial emergency and search phase in the days after the flood.
The officers and members of Newtown EMS congratulate Rob Kay Sr on his retirement from the Bucks County Department of Emergency Communications after serving for 37 1/2 years. Rob is also a volunteer Firefighter with the Upper Makefield Fire Company and celebrates a long life of dedicated public service. Congratulations on your well lived career and retirement!

Friday July 5th was a near record setting day. Not just for the heat, but for the number of calls we responded on in a single day. Our three crews from two stations handled 15 of 15 dispatched calls, just one short of tying the record of 16 in a single day last year. Great work by all of our staff caring for patients and the community regardless of the conditions at hand.
We wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July! However you celebrate, do it in a way that you won’t have to explain to a paramedic!
Yesterday was a busy one…14 dispatched calls in our coverage area and we handled 13 of them using our two units at the Newtown station and one unit from Upper Makefield. Most of the calls were between 7am and 8pm. Great job to the team working yesterday getting it done!
By now you all know how hot it’s going to be. Please hydrate, limit outdoor activity to the morning and evenings, check on the elderly, and if you feel the effects of heat exhaustion or heat stroke call 911!
Another nice day to take extra care of the fleet. Speaking of car washes, today we are hosting the Council Rock North fundraiser for Men’s volleyball. From 10am to 1pm stop by, get your car washed and make a small donation for the team. 100% of the proceeds benefit the CRN Men’s Volleyball Team!
Yesterday was a busy day, 7 incidents between 6am and noon including 2 bariatric dispatches, the ALICE drill at the high school and the usual medical calls. Both the Chief and Deputy Chief had to write PCR’s, under the watchful eye of the minions.
Such a beautiful day to be outside to take care of the fleet.
The weather turned out great! Come out for the annual Newtown Memorial Day Parade as we honor those who’ve sacrificed the most for our freedoms!
We are excited to announce the promotion of Lt. Kevin Moran to Battalion Chief of our Upper Makefield station. Battalion Chief Moran has worked his way up in our organization since joining in 2019. Congratulations Kevin and we look forward to supporting your professional growth as an EMS professional!
This week marks the 50th anniversary of National Emergency Medical Services week. This is a time to reflect on how far we have come as an essential public service and embrace all the future has to offer. With an ever-expanding scope of practice, the Emergency Medical Technicians, Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians, and Paramedics of today perform advanced proceedures once thought to be done by physicians only. We have access to equipment and medications that bring the Emergency Department to your door, your campsite, your place of business, or anywhere you are in the Country. Locally, as the Chief of Newtown EMS I celebrate our personnel not just today but every day. Our 57 career and volunteer staff members serve the residents of Newtown Township, Newtown Borough, and Upper Makefield Township with distinguished honor, skill, and empathy for anyone who calls for assistance. Our members make the difference, and we are honored to have skilled providers who truly improve the health and wellbeing of our community. From delivering a baby, raising someone's blood sugar, starting a stopped heart, or just lifting someone off of the floor who cannot do it alone, our personnel are there for you whenever you need us. - Evan N. Resnikoff Chief of Operations
Our Saturday crew of Paramedic Alan and EMT Felicia assisted St. Mary’s staff with rescuing a few ducklings from a storm drain. Since it’s so quiet today we have plenty of time to save some other lives! Great work guys !
Yesterday and today we have extra personnel on hand to support Newtown Fire Rescue as they host Flashover Simulation training at Station 55. The flashover simulator is a mobile unit that goes around Pennsylvania to allow firefighters to train in a controlled setting how to respond and react in a flashover situation.
For the next five nights we will be assisting with the Upper Makefield Volunteer Fire Company annual carnival! The carnival this year is at 1113 River Road at the Washington’s Crossing soccer fields. This big event supports the volunteer fire department and its members. Come out and see us !
We are proud to help support the mental health co-responder program in Newtown and Upper Makefield.
County Proposes Expanding Co-Responder Program To Newtown The program is about giving officers another resource in dealing with social service and mental health issues, said county officials.
April 14-20th is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. This week we honor the men and women who are the voice behind the phone and radio. They are truly the first people on-scene of all emergencies. In Bucks County we are fortunate to have more than 80 skilled telecommunicators in a large, progressive communications center who answer your 911 call. The telecommunicator is not just a call taker, they are responsible for the radio dispatch, accountability, and safety of all EMS, Fire, and Police agencies in our 600 square mile County. Thank you Bucks County 911!
