Our 1.2 million-member organization started with the vision of one man—Paul P. The Chicago attorney formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on 23 February 1905 as a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among

The new Rotary year is upon us! With substantial growth in recent years, we want to make sure all new members are aware of the "Rotary Learning Center." Many classes are offered for numerous topics- these free classes are great for learning about roles you may want to play in Rotary, but also help with life skills.
The Learning Center has seen a lot of activity in the last two months of the year. In the end we had members from 49% of clubs visit the Learning Center! That's a 9% increase compared to what was shared in May.
Simply go to rotary.org/learn and sign in with your club credentials. From there you'll be able to look at course loads, or select a specific class.

HAPPY NEW "Rotary" YEAR!
It's July 1, which means it's officially the new Rotary year. Let's all give a warm welcome to our *NEW* Rotary President, Debra Porter.
Thank you to our immediate past president, Mick Petrucci. He may have passed the Rotary gavel, but he will stay very involved as he moves into his new role as "Chairman of the Board."
Join us for our "Fourth Thursday" happy hour, Camaraderie for a Cause, tonight.
Tonight, June 27 we will meet at Triple Sun Spirits, 120 South State Street, Newtown from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The $10 minimum donation and any additional funds raised will be collected by the Newtown Rotary Club to provide much-needed assistance to those affected by recent challenges in Brazil.
Rotarian Vanessa Erthal brought this need to our attention, as many of her family members live in Brazil and have been impacted. Please come out and show support for one of our newer Rotarians, and her home country.
Did you know there is an easy opportunity to donate to the Rotary Foundation at each third Wednesday lunch meeting? You can simply round the $17 lunch up to $20. Donations by cash or check are also always accepted.
Your generous support of The Rotary Foundation contributes to lasting change in communities around the world. Rotary members respond to local and global challenges, often using grants from The Rotary Foundation to fund their crucial work.
These grants are possible because of your gifts, which allow Rotary and our members to accomplish great things. With your help, so far we’ve approved 478 district grants, 1,053 global grants, and 101 disaster response grants this Rotary year. For every one of those, Rotary members work with communities to make a meaningful impact.
Newtown NextGen Rotary Club President, Kira Altomari recently met with the secretary of the club in Brugge, Belgium. While her stay there didn’t line up with a meeting, she was able to arrange to meet and speak with him in his beautiful home.
Name: Bart Naessens
Position: Secretary
Club: Brugge-Zuid (South)
Job: World renowned/award winning conductor and musician
There are four clubs in Brugge and they work together as a district for large events. They are currently working on 50 local projects. One of the projects they are working on now is a school tuition program for students and families in need.
They do a seven year term on the board and rotate through each position. On the eighth year they become president for a one year term.
On June 19th, we held our last lunch meeting of the calendar year. During this meeting, President Mick Petrucci officially swore in President-elect Debra Porter, who officially takes office on July 1. (Can anyone else tell how happy Mick is by that picture??)
Mick did a “show and tell” with new pieces we inherited from the now defunct Morrisville-Yardley Rotary Club. As seen on the table, look at that beautiful bell!
Then as a surprise, Mick gave his classification speech after 7 years in Rotary. We learned a lot about him- including how he got his start in law enforcement at the Constable of Newtown. (Photo credit: Kyle Davis.)
Thank you again for a great two years as President of Newtown Rotary- now on to "Chairman of the Board!"

This was a bittersweet moment, but when one door closes another opens.
Our president, Mick Petrucci, President-elect Debra Porter, and Assistant District Governor Kyle Davis attended the final meeting of the Morrisville-Yardley Rotary Club. After 96 incredible years of community service, they are closing their chapter. The Newtown Rotarians in attendance expressed what an honor it was to meet all of their members and to learn about the history and outstanding success of the club. Thank you to Morrisville-Yardley Rotary Club for your kind hospitality, we look forward to reciprocating.
We're thrilled to welcome many of their dedicated members to the Newtown Rotary Club. Together, we'll continue making a difference both locally and internationally. Welcome aboard! 🌟
