Sweet little green leaves to kick off this Monday.
I’m printing with metallic ink today. I bought this frame over 20 years ago from a scrap frame pile. I’ve always loved it, but I’ve never found the artwork that was just right for the frame…I think this might be it. 😉

I’m learning lots about botanical monoprinting. This is one of my favorites from printing in the studio today.
I’m not sure HOW I got this far in my life as an artist and I’m just now trying monoprintig for the first time. I think I’m going to ink every leaf and flower in my yard.
I just purchased a new Canon inkjet printer and it prints beautifully on handmade paper. 😍 Awww, the possibilities!

Hawaii has such a big piece of my heart! This past week my thoughts and prayers have been with those dear people on the Hawaiian island of Maui. I’ve been to Lahaina town many times and it seems unimaginable that the entire area has burned to the ground.
From now until the end of August, 100% of the sale of any of the Hawaii prints purchased from susanjackson.com will be donated to
I’m continuing my theme of posting images from my early morning shoot on The Big Island of Hawaii. This lake scene was a short walk from the black sand beach that I hiked to that morning. I’ve been told that there are wild horses down in this valley but I’ve never seen them. I love hiking around Hawaii because there are no snakes to worry about, I’m much more hesitant and conscientious when I’m hiking around the mainland because I’m just not a fan of snakes. Ok, back to this beautiful lake image, it reminds me of a scene that you would see in a movie…maybe something like Jurassic Park. Hawaii is one of my favorite places, I think I could easily live there!

Moving into Monday about the pace of this snail.
If you happened to have read my previous post, this was taken on the same magical morning that I wrote about in the post just before this one. This little guy was crossing the path and I laid down on the muddy path to photograph him.

This photo was taken in the early morning hours on the Big Island of Hawaii. I left my Airbnb when it was still dark and it was pouring rain but I continued as planned for my early morning shoot. I drove till the road ended. By this time the rain had turned into more of a drizzle. I then hiked about a half a mile down a steep dirt path that led me to a beach and a magical landscape that bordered the coast. It looked like something you would see out of a Sci-fi movie. I spent several hours shooting in this incredible location and I had it all to myself. On my way home, I stopped at a roadside hut for one of the best fresh fruit smoothies I had ever had.
A NEW image release! It’s one of my favorites. It was taken in Navarre, Florida in the early morning. To shop, click on the link in my bio.

New work being hung I’ve been busy in the studio creating and have lots of fun things to share…more to come soon!
I was scouting this location a few days ago and took this with my iPhone. I’m really liking the image…now I’m going to have to go back and see if I can recreate this with my pro camera. NOTE TO SELF: Don’t leave home without the pro camera!
A couple of years ago I experimented with attaching photographs to fabric. This has been sitting on my desk for a while now and everyday I think, I should do a series like this. Yes, no? Comment below, I would love your feedback .
Here is my beloved photograph of beets. As an artist, it’s so satisfying to see a piece totally complete and framed. I’m looking forward to photographing more things from the garden this spring and summer. I also LOVE going to the weekly farmers market and connecting with local growers.
A new image just added to my online gallery! I shot this in the early morning. My bedroom at my VRBO looked right out onto the bay, so when I woke up every morning I could see what the light was doing and decide whether it was worth jumping out of bed to go photograph. The bay was so smooth this particular morning…like butter.
I’ve always loved the saying that seashells are love notes or love letters in the sand, what a sweet thought! I have collections of seashells and interesting stones that I’ve found while traveling over the years, they sit in little baskets or on shelves throughout my home. I think for most people seashells have fond memories attached to them. This is a series that I photographed a few years ago, I’ve always loved the simplicity of the images and of course the soft color palette.
More new work! I love this color palette…it makes me go ahhhh. I’ve been brainstorming how to better name photographs on my website. I haven’t landed on a system yet but this one may end up being called Cotton Candy.
In the history of all time, there have never been two sunsets alike…and on top of that, depending on where you are in the universe…it looks different from where you are watching. Amazing! More new work, link in bio.
Sunset at the beach is one of my favorite places to be and when I’m not there, I dream of being there.
I love capturing the soft pastel colors of The Gulf of Mexico! Here is another new image just added to my website. The link is in my bio.
New work! I took quite a long break from photographing for my gallery but I’m back at it. This is in Destin, Florida where I’m currently chasing ocean sunsets.
This is the town of Gangi, Sicily also known as the home of The Mafia. I stayed at the well known Gangivecchio Estate while in Gangi and also attended the Palm Sunday parade. Sicily is a wonderful place to photograph and I hope to go back someday. I had some of the best food I’ve ever eaten, the countryside is beyond beautiful and stopping for sheep to cross the road is a common occurrence. I don’t speak Italian but my friend who I was visiting did, so it was much easier to navigate our way around this incredibly authentic place!
The baby pig photo has always been a favorite...otherwise known as “the real life Babe”. This was taken at a friend’s farm in Spanish Lake, Missouri...which is a suburb of St. Louis. I always love heading out to to photograph. It’s a hundred acre farm that overlooks the Missouri River...such a beautiful place! I love it for all the scenery and animals but they also do weddings and events and have been doing a farmers market this year.
Beets, because why not!?! I actually love beet salads but I have friends and family that would rather pass. I’m looking forward to doing a whole photo garden series this spring and summer.
