Some patients drive over an hour to receive care at our Nixa, MO clinic. If you are looking for a new approach to resolve your health concerns,, you may want to try what we have to offer. At Nixa Chiropractor Plus, Dr. Greenwood bases his practice on six healing principles:
1. Treat the Whole Person
3. Apply Natural Therapies
4. Energize the Healing Power Within Your Body
5. Restore Health
6. Prevent Illness
True "health" care is more than pain management. At Nixa Chiropractor Plus, Dr. Greenwood seeks to return you to a state of wellness by utilizing chiropractic adjustments to improve body function and restore structural integrity. Dr. Greenwood may also utilize acupuncture, physical therapies, spinal decompression, exercise programs, nutrition, healing herbs, Chinese formulations, and homeopathy to energize the innate healing power within and help his patients overcome disease and maintain optimum health. Dr. Greenwood state, "pain distracts you; it demands that you focus on pain instead of your work, your family or the other activities you enjoy most in life. It eats at the heart of your day until you can no longer ignore it. My goal is to free you from that pain so that you can focus on the things that mean the most to you." At Nixa Chiropractor Plus, Dr. Greenwood utilizes a variety of manipulation techniques, including several he has developed himself. For manual (hands on) chiropractic adjusting and NMT, Nixa chiropractor Dr. Hunter Greenwood utilizes the Thompson Drop Table, which runs on air pressure and allows greater comfort for the patient when adjusting or working on structural imbalances to improve blood flow. The patient begins by standing at the table, which will drop them slowly into a horizontal position. Dr. Greenwood may have them face forwards, backwards, or sideways, depending on the type of manipulation he is going to perform. When the patient is laying face down, Dr. Greenwood can set the appropriate drop pieces on the table to the patient's weight and set it to drop slightly as he thrusts on the spine. This dropping enhances the motion of the segment of the spine which is manipulated, generally the mid-back, low back or pelvic area, allowing movement with less force, which is easier for the patient. The Thompson table is very effective in treating:
Chronic Back Pain
Sciatica
Shoulder Pain
Hip Pain
Herniated or ruptured discs
Rib pain
Facet Syndrome
Spondylolisthesis
Stenosis
Arthritis and Join Pain
Arm and Leg Pain
Numbness and Tingling
Sports Injuries
Nixa Chiropractor Plus is the only office in the greater Nixa/Springfield, MO area with the Cox Flexion Distraction Table. Flexion distraction tables allow for gentle, low force manipulation. Although there are a variety of flexion distraction tables on the market, the others cannot match the quality and function of the original Cox Flexion Distraction Table. It is the most advanced table of it's kind, enabling the doctor to help you return to health faster and more completely. The Cox table is able to flex, extend, rotate, and decompress the spinal area as desired for spinal correction. This allows Dr. Greenwood to work with each patient in an individual manner, adapting the abilities of the table to the specific needs of each patient. Research has shown that flexion distraction and decompression help relieve pain and return patients to health by lowering pressure where the spinal nerves exit the spine, widening the spinal canal foraminal area, and returning motion to the spinal joints. This care is helpful for
Sciatica
Low back and leg pain
Neck and arm pain
Herniated or ruptured discs
Facet syndrome
Spondylolisthesis
Stenosis
Pain that continues after back surgery
Numbness and tingling
Although some chiropractors in Nixa, MO utilize an activator for instrument adjusting, Dr. Hunter Greenwood prefers the PulStar Computerized System. The PulStar allows for multiple precise, gentle instrument manipulation, making it an excellent choice for patients who prefer a gentle, non-manual, effective solution for their pain. This computerized system adapts the weight and amplitude of multiple gentle force impulses to help move and release the spinal subluxation complex and, relieve pain, removing restrictions and restoring health. Nixa chiropractor Dr. Greenwood directs multiple impulses at the areas he wants to treat to reduce restrictions and improve motion. He will also utilize the PulStar to apply trigger point therapy to decrease muscle spasms and increase bloodflow to the affected area. The results display on the screen in real time. Dr. Greenwood guides the Pulstar instrument, with a two-pronged head, along your spine. The instrument sends out gentle pulses, and the sensor evaluates resistance and sends that information to the computer. When spinal segmental motion is restored, the impulses automatically stop. The Pulstar computer system analyzes that information and provides a visual report on the computer screen in real time. When vertebra are moving properly and tissue is normal, resistance is fairly constant. But when there are restrictions in motion or inflammation, resistance is higher. Dr. Greenwood utilizes this information and applies the instrument to deliver gentle, specific computer controlled impulses to the injured areas. As these impulses are delivered, Dr. Greenwood and the system analyze the changes to deliver the maximum benefit to the patient. The instrument delivers a small, measured amount of pressure in each impulse. Many patients find the treatment to be calming. Your spine won’t be twisted, cracked, popped, or snapped. Although no direct manual manipulations are performed, the spinal vertebra are moved a little bit at a time with each impulse and relief is often instant! Pulstar treatments are helpful for:
Back and Neck Pain
Arm, Hand, Leg, Knee and Foot Pain
Migraine and Tension Headaches
Whiplash
Repetitive Strain Conditions
Nerve Conditions
Pain that continues after back surgery

When there is interference or blockage in these pathways, it can result in imbalances that can cause pain, illness, or disease. In fact, Chinese traditional medicine believes that any illness or disease is preceeded by a disturbance in the Qi and that keeping this energy balanced is a way to preserve proper bodily functions. These blockages can be influenced by needling meridian points with acupuncture needles. Acupuncture treatments help restore the energy flow and bring the body back into proper balance. Acupuncture also can helps balance the organs systems, such as the respiratory system, cardiac system, etc., to help them function properly and overcome pathology.
