Good Afternoon!
I hope this finds everyone healthy. I want to reach out and let you know that I have been doing my homework while waiting to be able to get back to the salon and help everyone look great!
While I won’t be able to shake your hand or give you a hug (for now!), please know how excited I are to welcome you back.
I’ve put a great deal of thought and care into making sure my salon environment is as safe and sanitized as possible for you and myself.
As of right now the “Stay at Home” order ends May 1st 12:00 am. With that said, I guess my 1st day back might be 2nd May Saturday, but I have to wait for the Governor. I have also just read an article from Indianapolis that projected day might be 5th May Tuesday. We (John & I) are listing to the Governor himself and NOT news outlets. We are also checking the Governors website for updates. We might not know a final answer until Friday.
I am taking appointments if you would like to get one scheduled. Hopefully it won’t have to change. I will be for now working more hours to accommodate everyone as soon as possible.
I have been keeping up with some “New” guidelines as well as rules that were already in place for Cosmetology workers. Since our industry is one where we come into contact with our clientele in a close space, we need to take all precautionary measures to adequately protect each client and their families as well as ourselves.
Meeting and exceeding the already strict guidelines that ensure hygiene in our salons, we have instituted the following additional hygiene measures:
Customer and Stylist Wellbeing
• I will be wearing a face mask that covers the nose and mouth in a snug manner for my entire shift. I kindly ask that you also wear a well-fitting face mask during your visit. It will help in keeping everyone’s germs contained.
• If you have gloves, that is also a benefit. I will be wearing them as I can, if they don’t hinder me giving you the best service possible. My hands will be cleaned prior to your service as always.
• Stylist will wash their hands frequently, and wiping throughout the salon’s highly-trafficked areas for you.
• Stylist station and salon chairs are wiped down and sanitized between all services.
Some guidelines that I will have to be following:
1. Have you or anyone you have been in contact with exposed to the COVID-19 virus. If yes, Please take the proper precautions, to quarantine, and to reach out to your primary care physician. I am only asking to help me keep my salon as clean as possible. I cannot risk any more time off if I get sick, nor do I want to expose anyone else especially since I have many older clients. I have not experienced any nor my family (Husband and son) that I have only been in contact with have had any symptoms or been sick since this started. This includes if you have had a temperature in the last 24hrs.
2. Appointments: Once you arrive for a scheduled appointment, I will make sure to hopefully be waiting for you. This will ensure that we are abiding by the “6 feet apart” rule. Some salons are requesting that you call before they come in, but those salons have many more people that will be working and clients entering. If you are more comfortable, I can also step outside and let you know when to come in, if you are uncertain if I am still working on someone.
3. Cleaning & disinfecting the Salon: I have cleaned my salon. Plus I have gone above that and cleaned, disinfected it again. I will be wiping down that chair, sink and anything that others touch to keep it as clean as possible. This will have to happen after each client, so I will have to have extra time between each of you. I will even have to clean my restroom, so if that can be avoided, that would be helpful, but I understand if it can’t. I am just trying to think of ways that I can save time while trying to keep everyone safe. I have all the proper products to disinfect after each client. I will need to a lot time after each service to properly clean all surfaces thoroughly, as well as chairs, door handles, etc. I hope that by taking this extra step to ensure you I am taking every measure to sanitize/ disinfect will be appreciated and know that I am working hard to protect you and myself.
Salon Environment
• Prior to opening each day, salons will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized to city, county, state and federal mandates.
• Door pushes and windows will be wiped down frequently.
• Shared space chairs and surfaces will be wiped down frequently.
• The common area will be free of magazines, toys, candy, coffee machines and any other frequently-handled items.
• While they encourage using contactless payment whenever possible; credit card terminals will be wiped and sanitized after each use. If you have any sort of payment methods Venmo, Zelle, Chase to Chase, Element ect, I have used some of these already, so I am familiar. I still have the normal ways of paying as in the past.
My Customers
I kindly request that if you are not feeling well, please reschedule your visit for when you are feeling better for the safety of our team and other customers.
As we work through this together, I are committed to providing customers with the information they need to make informed decisions around their salon services.
I would greatly appreciate if you could just respond to this email so that I can make sure that you received it, and I can seek out those that haven’t in other ways.
Thanks so much and see you soon!
Mary Lupacchino

Good afternoon friends! I hope everyone is doing well in these challenging days.
I had 2 calls today from clients stating that Friday 24 April salons will be able to re open. I wish I could say that that was a fact. I have seen no change in the May 1st date as of yet. I was hearing what the Governor was saying just a short time ago, it doesn't seem it will be until at least May 1st before he will roll out the plans on how to reopen and when that date will be.
I will assure you, that I will continue follow all the previous Cosmetology requirements as I have before and I will wear myself a mask just to make sure I keep my clients safe.
It would be great if you ware one also as to help me in keeping things in the shop as clean as possible and time saving for me in cleaning between each client. That allows me to be more productive in catching up everyone that is in need,
Lucky for us, I work alone so we will have no problem in the number of people in the salon at the same time,
Keep healthy! Thank you so much for all of your support!

I used to teach for CE credits for the State of Indiana though the National Cosmetology Association of Indiana. Many times these were stressed over and over in my classes.
If every one took better care in cleaning up, maybe we could help situations like this. I really don't like touching things that have been touched by so many and not cleaned after each person touched it, ie remotes, phones, keypads, self food order kiosks, buffets, shopping carts and the list could go on and on.... maybe after this Covid 19 passes many will have learned to clean better and STAY home if you are sick! If you can't go to work, school or what ever because you are "sick" then you need to STAY HOME!! The following is from Health Line

How to prevent disease transmission
Because infectious diseases can spread through direct or indirect contact, everyone is at risk of illness. You have a higher risk of becoming ill when you’re around sick people or in areas susceptible to germs. If you work in or visit a care center, a day-care center, a hospital, or a doctor’s office, take extra precautions to protect yourself.

1. Illness
Something as simple as touching a doorknob, elevator button, light switch, or another person’s hand increases the likelihood of coming in contact with germs that can make you sick. The good news is that a few simple precautions can prevent some disease transmission. For example, make sure you wash your hands frequently and thoroughly. Use soap and warm water and vigorously rub your hands together for at least 20 seconds. If you can’t wash your hands, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Washing your hands is the gold standard though!

Other tips to prevent the spread of disease in areas with germs include:

wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before handling food and after shaking hands
always wash with soap and water if your hands are visibly soiled
try to minimize touching your mouth or nose with your hands
avoid sick people, if possible
wear disposable gloves to avoid contact with blood and f***s
use disposable gloves when caring for an ill person
cover your mouth when you sneeze and cough and wash your hands afterward
teach children not to put their hands or objects in their mouths
sanitize toys and changing tables

It has been a while since I posted anything as life keeps us busy, but I just wanted to send a message out to those clients that I have here on this page.
I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy. This is a time to reflect on the important things and one is making sure that we try to think of ways we can help others and be thankful for what the Lord has given us.

Today I got to help a client go from years and years of home kitchen coloring to Professional Salon Coloring! It makes her complexion so much better! Thanks for letting me help you get back to normal. Just a note, color a unlicensed person can buy, is so much different than professional products and very unpredictable and very hard to color correct.

Zoya Natural Nail Polish & Nail Care Treatments 04/28/2018

I love and only use products from companies that care about what they use in their products. Here is a write up about Zoya and why I sell their products.
"Art of Beauty was founded in 1986 by Zoya and Michael Reyzis. They had a shared vision, which evolved from a small nail salon into a spa focusing on natural nails, skin care and alternative European herbal treatments. Today, the company has grown to become a manufacturer of the most innovative professional beauty products ever created. Our brands include Zoya, Qtica, Smart Spa and Zoom.

Zoya, originally a classical pianist in Russia, earned her Cosmetology license in 1979 when she and her husband Michael immigrated to the United States. While pianist jobs were limited, the world of cosmetology offered a new profession and a means by which to build a new career. Through Zoya’s hard work, and a demand for quality and healthy, natural ingredients for her clients, it became evident that there was a need for the perfect products. Responding to his wife’s requests. Michael, an advanced chemist, developed and patented unique products such as anti-wrinkle treatments and shampoo and conditioning treatments for the salon & spa. He also created the first working fast drying topcoat and the longest wearing, toxin free natural nail polish, revolutionizing the nail industry.

Today, Zoya, Michael and everyone at Art of Beauty focus on creating the highest quality products available to professional salons and spas. Through brands like ZOYA Nail Lacquers, QTICA Treatments and QTICA SMART SPA, Art of Beauty offers salons and spas superior quality, convenience and incredible value. As the first to remove toxic ingredients such as toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and DBP (dibutyl phthalate) from its formulations, Art of Beauty maintains its focus on the health and well being of salons, spas and consumers.

Art of Beauty also manages www.artofbeauty.com, www.zoya.com, www.qticasmartspa.com and www.qtica.com.

You will find Art of Beauty brands in the world’s best salons, spas and resorts; not in discount stores. Our products continuously receive praise from top fashion magazines and year after year are voted #1 by our users."

Yesterday was a fun day at work as I added a few fun purple lites to my clients hair. I also had the pleasure of 2 sisters coming into town, 1 from NYC and the other Southern CA, for their nieces wedding to get their hair styled . They are originally from Ft Wayne and they were given my salon as a referral from the hotel. They loved my little shop and me and will be looking to comeback again someday. They said they are also goung to refer me to the sister that lives local. That was a blessing to hear. Flower is to mask & respect her identity.

While I am fortunate to have some awesome long time standing clients who rarely ever no show for an appointment, it makes me hope and pray that they are alright as they are not here. I even have their computer print out to double check my schedule. I called the house and cell number, but only could leave a message.

Well today I spent the day in Greenwood Indiana. I was there for a two hour class for new up dates on Scruples Hair Color. While it wasn't really what I was expecting, it was more of a discussion with other stylists and some local Scruples Educators. Hearing the questions and trouble shooting, I am glad to know, I am doing things correctly, and received some new tips. Then they invited the few of us to come back for the afternoon session and hear more of a open discussion with the local educators. It was fun to relate with others with some of the issues we come across. Makes me wish I was still part of an Education team. I MISS what I had been involved in for so many years. Too bad Con Ed went away in this state. Guess you really don't need the extra professional education when you can just Google or watch a UTube, because they can know exactly what is on your canvas to prescribe your formula. Oh and the educators biggest pet peeve is Pinterest....lol Oh and I think that Scruples is one of the best Hair Color Lines out there, if not the best in my opinion. They really care about what is in their product. They could be "certified Organic", but that is nothing they would do because of how the system is and NO color is truly organic. That is a chemical fact.

10/14/2016

I just love the fall. So many beautiful colors! Tonight as I sit thinking, I didn't finish my day at work. I left for a late lunch and had a terrible headache. I went to the house instead of returning. Grateful for knowing in 30 years of being in this business, this is only one of the very few times I have left work and not returned. Thankful that God has kept me healthy for the majority of my life. These pictures are from friends FB post that they have shared. So thanks for the beautiful pictures that I borrowed!

Always makes you feel GREAT when one of your new clients sends you a message like this!! Thanks Vickie and I am so excited that you love your hair!!
Subject:Hair

Mary,

I just want to thank you for a job well done. I love how my hair turned out. I appreciate that you took so much time asking me questions & making sure you understood what I was trying to describe. It paid off b/c it's exactly the way I wanted it. I am also impressed that you showed me color samples & asked me to help choose the color. No one has ever done that before. Again, it paid off b/c I love the color.

Jim also loves it. He has mentioned at least a dozen times tonight how much he likes it.

Thank you!!!!
Vicki

A little history on Nail Polish. Did you know that most of nail polishes are not even made for the natural nail? There are many many ingredients in top and popular brands that are not made for your natural nail. They contain hazardous ingredients hence how you are to properly dispose of them when you are done.

There are many times I get asked, "why can't I get my hair to do what you get it to do" " how come it looks so good when you do it" There are many reasons, but one of the top is... what you are using to style your hair with. I was looking to order new brushes,as mine need some replacement for being used for years, and multiple times and decided to share a GREAT reason why using quality professional brushes are a MUST! "Ions or tourmaline powders enhance the bristles on brushes, which are additives that emit ions when used with styling tools. These ions breakup water molecules so smaller molecules can be more easily absorbed into hair strands, reducing brittleness and permitting the hair to be more soft and stretchable." A Cheaper brush just doesn't cut it. If you need a new brush, I can help you get one! Just ask!

Well with the holidays over, and I have been getting back to normal and organizing things, as I have been going through stuff in my brief case from work, I realized I had many cards from my clients I had not opened. I am so humbled and blessed for those cards and gifts I found inside and even the ones I had already opened. Makes me feel special for what they have given me, esp being able to work with them and entrusting me to do their hair and nails for so many years! They support me in my small one person salon. I really appreciate their loyalty to me. Without them, I would not have my little salon!!!!

What has Majestic Designs been up to? Well I have been fixing hair and giving advice for those who participated in the Indy Color Run this weekend. Those with natural blond or chemical blonde hair have really had issues. Even those with natural hair like my daughters. It does stain! I think one of the culprits this year to make it worse, is the fact that it rained and it set the color dye before people could get home and wash it with shampoo. I have even seen the guys with their heads off color and including eyebrows. Best home remedy is to purchase a Clarifying Shampoo such as Brocato Peppermint Scrub and let that sit for a few minutes. I helped a friend this weekend who went to a salon and made things worse. They actually left professional product on her hair and told her to go home and wash it out as they were closing. WOW!!! So Unprofessional and a law suit waiting to happen. To boot, she still had green hair and the natural color was now a orange gold! I was so pleased and honored to help her start getting in the right direction.
