Lieutenant Ray Higgins was laid to rest yesterday. The community outpouring of support was amazing to see. The procession was long and people came out from their homes with flags to honor him. There were Papillion city employees, military, police officers and SWAT standing and saluting as he passed. We only knew Ray for about a year but it’s obvious his legacy will live on forever.

Papillion community mourns death of officer First responders from as far away as Kearney rolled into the metro to pay their final respects to Papillion Police Lt. Ray Higgins on Tuesday.

It’s is a sad day as we mourn the loss of Lieutenant Ray Higgins of the Papillion Police Department. He passed unexpectedly. Lt Higgins was instrumental in helping the Nation of Patriots Nebraska with a law enforcement es**rt and logistics during our veterans celebration this past May. He worked very hard to coordinate everything and during the process became our friend. We want to express our condolences to Ray’s family and to the Papillion Police Department. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Ray will be missed by all of the Nation of Patriots staff of volunteers. May he rest in peace.
