It's Little Free Library week! The Little Free Library (LFL) nonprofit organization presented our own Ellen Miller Selig with the 2024 Todd H. Bol Award for Outstanding Achievement. This award honors extraordinary individuals who embody LFL’s mission to build community, inspire readersand expand book access for all.
Way to go, Ellen! And thank you to our Friends for all the LFL support within the community.

Lots of Little Free Library excitement with the new installation @ Chesterfield Academy and the dedication of the new beautifully painted LFL @ Ingleside Elementary, both supported by Friends of Norfolk Public Library and sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Alumnae Chapter (which is an incredible group of women). These schools are located in communities that embrace reading but buying a book or driving to the local library may not be in the budget.

Read Across America event was a rousing success for all who participated. Lots of happy children and adults alike left with new favorite books. The Friends of the Norfolk Public Library is an all-volunteer charitable organization, the purpose of which is to encourage and strengthen public support for the Norfolk Public Library and to enrich the total resources and facilities of the Library. For instance, the FNPL funds NPL programming including the Summer Reading Program, Tales to Tails, the annual Book Review Contest, and, most recently, 20 Little Free Libraries placed in neighborhoods throughout the City!
