Black History Month - Medical Community
February is Black History Month. We want to take this opportunity to celebrate, honor, and recognize the achievements of African Americans and their impact on American history and culture. As Healthcare providers, we are especially grateful for these members of the African American medical community without whom the medical field would not be where it is today. These are just a very few historical trailblazers in the African American medical community. It would be impossible to include all of them.

The holidays have a way of conjuring up memories from the past. We encourage you to get out and flip through the photo album/scroll through old photos on your phone to help remember some of those favorite experiences. This can be a wonderful experience for anyone and is particularly beneficial for those suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Before this year comes to an end, we encourage you to take some time to sit and talk with loved ones about some of your favorite memories from this past year. We have had some good times and some sad times, but we have enjoyed getting to spend time together with loved ones.

No, you didn’t kill your mom. Hospice deals primarily in the transition of our loved ones from life to death. This transition is often painful and confusing. It can make you feel strong emotions of guilt, blame, sadness, and regret. But it doesn’t have to. Watch this video where we help you navigate through some commonly felt thoughts and emotions. Special thanks to one of our care family program directors, @Allison Lampkin for creating such a special message.
