So much cool stuff happening at Spyglass right now. This is a Ballard craftsman that’s getting a master suite added for a growing family. This is going to serve them so well. Looking forward to adding finishes!
LETS GO! Drainage is in, and walls are backfilled. Time to bang some nails!
Foundation is poured 💪🏻
Had some new site superintendent trainees out today. Fortunately, they work for ice cream 😂
Things are moving along nicely for the Capitol Hill project. Should have a roof on by tomorrow.
The Bothell house is coming along nicely. I’ve taken out somewhere around 50 truck loads of soil so far. Can’t wait to get into concrete work next week 👍🏻
How many of you have a tired old galley kitchen that you want gone, but your houses layout just doesn’t allow for any drastic change? These are very common in rambler style houses. Well this young couple had this same issue, along with a very limited budget. In partnership with we were able to transform this dated old disaster into a very functional modern kitchen. They are beyond excited and now look forward to hosting cocktail parties at their house. If you have a similar situation, reach out to us. We could probably help.
So you have a napkin drawing of that dream DADU or she shed/man cave. How do you take this from the napkin to actual construction? Well, you first need a design in order to apply for a building permit. Sounds like you need a designer or architect. I can speak from experience that the good ones are booked out months, even years. Fortunately, the city of Seattle offers “canned” DADU plans that are mostly approved for permit. You just need to make sure your lot meets a few other criteria like setbacks and lot coverage. Using one of their plans (they have several) can greatly speed up the permitting process. You can even personalize them however you want as long as it meets the municipal and county code requirements. Shoot me a message if you’re interested and would like to know more!
Did anyone bring the marshmallows? Shilshol Fab just finished install on the huge fully custom fire pit chimney built from Corten steel which meant to create a protective layer of rust to give it the antique look. We got our trusses today. The Redmond project is moving along nicely!
So proud of our team. They truly take great pride in delivering the best work possible. Each project gets treated like it’s their own. Thanks for all your hard work guys!
Here is a fascinating video from the 40’s showing how they designed kitchens back then. It’s very similar to how we do it today. Not much has changed.
Not all of us can afford to have a large property without visible neighbors. Some of us simply enjoy living in an urban setting. But what if you don’t want to share every moment with your neighbors? Privacy screens make a fantastic and low maintenance alternative to using vegetation as a block the view of prying eyes. These can be built with many different materials like metal, wood, glass, and even stone. Message us if you want some ideas on how you can do this to your own home!
A clean and organized job site is an efficient job site. When time is money and hitting deadlines is critical, maintaining order is an easy way to help ensure the best possible outcome.
It’s been a while since I’ve given an update on the Seattle DADU. We are deep into millwork and cabinets. The guys are doing an incredible job moving things along. We’ve made some big changes to the garage. It’s now fully finished with a bathroom glass door panels for light. The owners plan to use this as a game room. The landscaping is coming along nicely too. We did retaining walls around the perimeter with drainage. Lots of work going on here. Looking forward to all the high fives when this is finished.
Spyglass has another very happy client who hired us to renovate their kitchen after a unfortunate plumbing event. They were patient and methodical with the design. This kitchen isn’t just beautiful, it’s layout is one of the most functional designs we’ve done. This will be a truly great place for cooking and entertaining. Nice work on this one Shaun. Your craftsmanship really shows well here. And a big shoutout to and for partnering on this. 👍🏻
We love our pets. They bring us so much joy. Why not give them their own space. That weird space under your stairs works great for this. Your pooch might not want to leave!
I guess they grow big, REALLY big, in Africa. This Bubinga slab is approximately 47”x 176”. How cool would this be as a table!
Meet some of our talented crew!

Things are coming right along on the Ballard project. We are close to getting a roof on.
Stumped on how you should arrange that small bathroom you’ve been considering? This might help a little.
Your kitchen isn’t the gym. We aren’t trying to get as many steps in as possible. Thinking about how you will move within the kitchen is a key component of the design. These rules can be scaled for any size kitchen.
Take pride in whatever you do. The person who completed this must have stood back and looked at this with great satisfaction
After waiting for concrete for weeks, we finally got some progress going on this Seattle DADU. I’m excited to see this take shape over the coming weeks.
Here is an excellent example as to why you should replace any old galvanized pipe during a remodel. This pipe is probably from the 40’s and completely rotted out, causing around $50k in damage. Luckily, the house was insured and now they’ll be getting a new kitchen!
Adding a new beam to a old Victorian house on Greek row.
