Using drapery to disguise a poor builder design worked so well in this space!
The client hated how their dining room windows did not match. One was a huge stand alone picture window and the other had two double hung side windows next to a second huge picture window.
We created balance and harmony in this space by using blackout drapery to fully cover the double hung windows, while simultaneously extending the rods the width of the absent double hung windows on the single picture window 😮💨 Sounds like a crazy riddle, but by gosh - it worked brilliantly!
Salt + Pine encompasses the natural beauty that surrounds us in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and for us specifically, in Washington State.
We’ve pulled together six classic PNW styles that we love.
1. Pacific Coastal
2. Island Life
3. Puget Sound Shores
4. Cascade Foothills
5. Mountain Retreat
6. Lake Life
Drop a comment and tell us which style is your favorite and if you’d like to get on our books for design, use the link in our bio to “Request a Designer” and we will get the process started!
Installed my favorite drapery over at our Edgewick project today. The space is nearly complete. We’re just waiting on a few more pieces before we can put a pretty little bow on it!
Old world meets new at our Rivers Edge project in North Bend. Natural stone paired with brass accents and moody hues have transformed this space completely. Stay tuned for some editorial worthy shots!

Not all remodels require a full demo reno and this is a perfect case study for a space that had a great layout but needed a refresh.

❓Lots of questions lately on how to hire my team.❓
How do I hire you? It starts with the project inquiry. The best way to do that is to complete the “Hire a Designer” request found in the bio.
Does your team travel for projects? In short, yes. But it also depends on the scope and timeline.
How far are you booked out? On average we are booked out 6 month or more for large projects and 3 months for smaller ones.
Do you have a contractor we can work with? If you live within their service area, we will recommend that you work with
Can you help with new construction? Typically, yes. It depends on who your builder is and what their requirements are for the design portion of the build.
I started working with a designer/contractor but they didn’t work out. Can you complete what we started? Often, yes. Unless they made recommendations that we don’t support; in which case we would start from scratch with you.
➕Are there other questions we can answer for you? Use the link in bio to “Request a Designer” to get the conversation started.➕
They are all important reasons, but does one resonate above all others?
For me it’s TIME. I’ve learned the value of other’s expertise in this area when it comes to things like, home care, accounting, food services, you name it!
While yes, I CAN do it all, no - I just DON’T have the time. However I do have a trusted network of amazing professionals that help me do this thing called life so I can spend more of my TIME doing the things I want, like watching my son play soccer, traveling with my family and taking care of my health.
If you have a big project on the horizon and you value your TIME, let’s talk so we can keep you doing the things you really want while also landing an incredible design for your project!
To get started, use the “REQUEST A DESIGNER” link in bio.
This project is coming together beautifully.

Who loves a good after and before swipe?
The High Rock cottage was quite transformative. For this design I worked with the clients to completely re-orient their kitchen layout by removing an entire room to make way for the new kitchen and open concept plan. We stayed true to their cozy cottage style with warm tones throughout the space while also using elements like the huge ivory tile wall in the kitchen and the addition of a new windows in their adjacent dining space to maximize the natural light.

When testing stain, here’s a few tips:
1) Use a wood conditioner. This will ensure your stain applies evenly.
2) Don’t limit yourself to a single brand.
3) Try different coverages [transparent, semi-solid, solid, etc]
4) Try different bases [oil vs. water based]
5) Document your experiments so when you get the perfect color, you know how to replicate it [1x 2x 3x coverage and any base or top coats]
Stain matching takes patience and can be like a science experiment. So be patient and give yourself grace!
What staining tips do you have to share? Drop them below!
Let’s talk project planning. Whether I’m planning a project for my own home or a client’s home, concept design is a critical step to help me visualize how the space will look when it’s complete. For big projects I use sophisticated rendering software to accomplish that, but for simple projects like wall paneling, I dive into edit mode on the original photo and hand sketch my ideas. Swip through to see how that looks. Have you ever tried this simple trick?

The most charming split-level living room there was. I adored working on this home renovation project. You know it’s a small world when your Washington clients know how to pronounce ‘Worcester’ because their son plays for the Worcester Red Sox aka “WooSox”. I grew up in Massachusetts and frequented going to WooSox and Red Sox games all the way through college before relocating to the Seattle area.
