Staying Consistent with Health & Wellness in the Summer Heat
Summer is a beautiful time to bask in the sun, but the heat can often challenge our commitment to Health & Wellness. And boy is the heat cranking up in our area this week. Summer's arrived in full force.
Yet, staying consistent with our routines during this season is crucial for setting a strong foundation for the rest of the year. Here’s how you can maintain your wellness journey despite the heat:
1. Hydrate Wisely: The increased temperatures mean more sweating, leading to a higher risk of dehydration. Aim to drink plenty of water throughout the day, and consider natural electrolytes like coconut water or a pinch of sea salt in your water to replenish lost minerals.
2. Eat Fresh, Eat Light: Summer offers a bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Incorporate more salads, smoothies, and fresh juices into your meals. These not only cool you down but are also packed with essential nutrients that support your body’s natural detoxification processes.
3. Adjust Your Exercise Routine: Opt for early morning or late evening workouts when the temperatures are cooler. Outdoor activities like walking or yoga in the park can be refreshing. Remember, consistency is key, so find ways to keep moving without overexerting yourself in the heat.
4. Stay Sun-Safe: Protect your skin by using natural sunblocks like our Eco Defense (for the face and neck especially) and wearing lightweight, breathable clothing. Avoid the peak sun hours between 10 AM and 4 PM when UV radiation is at its strongest.
5. Mindful Relaxation: Use this time to focus on relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or a leisurely walk in nature. These practices can help reduce stress and keep your mind and body balanced.
6. Rest Well: Ensure you get adequate sleep, as your body needs time to recover and rejuvenate. Use natural cooling methods, such as fans, cooling sheets, or a cool shower before bed to improve sleep quality.
By maintaining these habits, you not only navigate the summer heat more comfortably but also set a robust foundation for health that will benefit you throughout the year. Remember, the goal is to work with your body, not against it, ensuring that you stay vibrant and healthy all year long.
Listen to your body, but don't let your mind talk you into being lazy too much. Even a good brisk walk to start and end the day goes a long way to better health.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and keep thriving!

One of the simplest and most natural ways to boost your health is through sun exposure. However, the timing of sun exposure is crucial to maximize benefits and minimize harm. We've talked about this topic before, but let's explore the benefits of sunlight at different times of the day and provide tips on how to enjoy the sun safely. It's really massively important to overall health and wellness.
Why Sunlight Matters
Sunlight plays a vital role in our overall health and wellness, impacting everything from mood and sleep to skin health and vitamin D synthesis. Here are some key benefits of sun exposure:
• Vitamin D Production: Essential for bone health, immune function, and reducing inflammation.
• Mood Enhancement: Sunlight triggers the release of serotonin, improving mood and promoting feelings of well-being.
• Sleep Regulation: Natural light helps regulate our circadian rhythms, improving sleep quality.
• Skin Health: Controlled sun exposure can help treat certain skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema.
Timing is Everything: The Best Times for Sun Exposure
Morning Sun (Before 10 AM)
• Benefits: Morning sun is rich in UVB rays, which are essential for vitamin D production. These rays are less intense, reducing the risk of skin damage.
• Health Impact: Exposure to morning sun can boost mood, improve sleep patterns, and enhance overall energy levels.
• Skin Health: Gentle morning sun exposure can help in the treatment of skin conditions without the risk of burning.
Midday Sun (10 AM - 4 PM)
• Caution: Midday sun contains a higher concentration of UVA and UVB rays, which can increase the risk of skin damage, sunburn, and long-term skin issues like premature aging and skin cancer.
• Protective Measures: If you must be outdoors during this time, wear protective clothing, use broad-spectrum sunscreen, and seek shade whenever possible.
Evening Sun (After 4 PM)
• Benefits: The sun’s rays are less intense in the late afternoon, making it safer to enjoy outdoor activities.
• Health Impact: Evening sun exposure can still help regulate circadian rhythms and improve sleep quality.
• Skin Health: Lower UV levels reduce the risk of skin damage while still providing some health benefits.
Overall Health and Wellness Tips
• Balance is Key: While sun exposure has many benefits, it’s important to balance it with protective measures to avoid overexposure.
• Hydration: Always stay hydrated when spending time outdoors to support your skin and overall health.
• Regular Check-Ups: Regular skin check-ups can help detect any early signs of skin damage or issues. The longer you wait, the more difficult to correct.
• Healthy Diet: A diet rich in antioxidants can help protect your skin from sun damage. Include foods like berries, leafy greens, and nuts in your diet.
Conclusion
Sun exposure at the right time of day can significantly enhance your health and wellness. By understanding the benefits and risks associated with different times of the day, you can make informed decisions about when and how to enjoy the sun safely. At Little Oasis Spa, we are committed to helping you achieve a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
Summary
• Morning Sun (Before 10 AM):
• Rich in UVB rays for vitamin D production.
• Boosts mood and improves sleep.
• Gentle on the skin.
• Midday Sun (10 AM - 4 PM):

• Increased risk of skin damage and sunburn.
• Use protective measures.
• Evening Sun (After 4 PM):
• Lower UV levels, safer for outdoor activities.
• Helps regulate circadian rhythms and improves sleep.

Get Prepared Now
For The Changes
Embrace the Summer
How Seasonal Changes Impact Your Skin
As spring transitions into summer, your skin faces new challenges. The rising temperatures and increased humidity can lead to a variety of skin issues, from clogged pores to excessive oil production. Understanding these changes and adjusting your skincare routine accordingly is crucial for maintaining a healthy, radiant complexion.
Spring to Summer Transition
As we move from the mildness of spring into the heat of summer, your skin may struggle to adapt. Higher humidity levels can cause your skin to become oilier, leading to clogged pores and breakouts. Additionally, increased sun exposure means a greater risk of UV damage, which can result in premature aging and sunspots.
To keep your skin looking its best during the summer months, focus on the following tips:
Lighten Up
Switch to lighter, oil-free moisturizers and gels to avoid overwhelming your skin.
Protect: Incorporate a skin healthy sunblock (void of the cancerous causing chemicals in most sunscreens) into your daily routine to shield your skin from harmful UV rays.
Cleanse
Regular cleansing is essential to remove sweat, oil, and impurities that can clog pores. If you're unsure on your cleanser, ask our specialists for a recommendation.
Hydrate
Despite the humidity, your skin still needs hydration. Use a gentle hydrating serum to keep your skin balanced. And hydrate from within with plenty of fresh water early and often during the day.
At Little Oasis Spa, we understand the unique needs of your skin during this seasonal transition. Our expert estheticians offer personalized treatments designed to help your skin adapt to the summer heat and humidity. From deep-cleansing facials to hydrating and protective treatments, to more advanced treatments -- we ensure your skin remains clear, healthy, and glowing.
If it's been some months since you've been in, schedule an appointment with one of our specialists today and let us help your skin transition smoothly into summer.
Stay radiant,

The Simple, Powerful Ways
Dogs Help Us
Today, let’s explore a heartwarming aspect of health and well-being—our furry friends, dogs! Not only do these loyal companions fill our lives with joy and affection, but they also significantly contribute to our physical and mental health.
1. Physical Fitness Promoters:
Dogs naturally need exercise, and their daily walks encourage us to incorporate regular physical activity into our routine. This not only helps in maintaining a healthy weight but also improves cardiovascular health.
2. Mental Health Boosters:
The presence of a dog in your life can decrease levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. Playing with a dog can elevate levels of serotonin and dopamine, neurotransmitters that calm and relax the nervous system.
3. Social Catalysts:
Dog owners often engage more in social activities and community outings. Whether it’s meeting other dog owners at the park or simply interacting with neighbors during a walk, dogs help us connect and strengthen community bonds.
4. Healers in Fur Coats:
For those with significant health challenges, dogs can be not just pets but lifesavers. Service dogs assist individuals with disabilities, and therapy dogs play a crucial role in recovery rooms and nursing homes, offering comfort and joy that aid in faster recovery.
5. Allergy Fighters:
Seriously? Yes. Children growing up in a home with dogs are found to have lower risks of developing allergies and asthma. Early exposure to pet dander and fur can strengthen the immune system, leading to more robust health in later life.
A Special Note:
Always remember, the choice to bring a dog into your life comes with responsibilities that include their health and happiness. Ensure that your lifestyle can accommodate a pet’s needs for a nurturing and caring environment. They depend on you and your love. And the more love you give them, the more you'll feel back from them. They'll always out give you!
Embracing a dog can significantly enrich your life, promoting a healthier and more joyful you. Maybe it’s time to consider adding a furry member to your family or just spending more time appreciating the one you already call your own!
We look forward to seeing you soon!

Mother's Day Gift Certificates
We Forget All That
Moms Do For Us
As we approach Mother's Day, let's take a moment to celebrate the incredible gift that mothers bring into our lives—and into our health.
From the moment they hold us in their arms, mothers teach us some of the most profound lessons in wellness. Whether it's the warmth of their hugs or the wisdom of their advice, they shape the very foundation of our health and happiness.
Here at Little Oasis Spa, we believe in nurturing the mind, body, and spirit, much like how mothers nurture us.
Mothers have an innate way of guiding us toward healthier lives:
* They remind us to eat fresh, wholesome foods and savor the beauty of nature.
* They encourage us to relax and not worry about things.
* They teach us resilience, kindness, and the power of self-care.
Even if there are things we see our mothers doing that we don’t like, that in itself helps us to grow and reinforce the better way we’ve learned. And sometimes as mothers ourselves now, we learn new things we can teach our mothers.
This Mother’s Day, let's honor our mothers and their unwavering dedication to our well-being.
It seems there’s a notional day for virtually everything these days. 99% are random and meaningless. But Mother’s Day is one of those holidays you can’t forget.
Remember to show your appreciation for the countless ways they've shaped your health and happiness. Here’s to celebrating the nurturing spirit that helps us stay grounded, healthy, and whole.
We look forward to seeing everyone at our spa — but we will always have a special place in our hearts for mothers. Their jobs are never ending. And when Mom is looking and feeling her best, she functions better.
So take care of Mom.

To Help My Skin Look It's Best Longer In Life (And Just Feel My Best Longer)
1. Wearing Sunblock Every Day
One of the simplest yet most effective ways to care for your skin is to apply a high-quality sunblock every day. Protecting your face and neck with a high quality sunblock can dramatically slow the effects of the sun's harmful UV rays, such as premature aging and hyperpigmentation. This daily practice not only preserves your skin’s youthful appearance but also boosts your overall confidence, as healthy skin can significantly enhance how you feel about yourself. All those days spending hours in the sun can't be erased, but I don't want to add to the damage either.
2. Eating Less Processed and Packaged Foods
Our skin is often a reflection of our internal health, and the quality of our diet plays a crucial role in its condition. By reducing the intake of processed and packaged foods and embracing whole, unprocessed options, you provide your body with the essential nutrients it needs. These foods are rich in antioxidants that combat inflammation and support skin repair, making your skin a visible testament to your inner health. Plus, you'll reduce the risk for a multitude of other health issues.
3. Regular Professional Skin Treatments
Incorporating regular professional skin treatments like facials into your skincare routine can significantly enhance your skin's health and appearance. These treatments are tailored to your skin type and concerns, helping to maintain its vitality through deep cleansing and hydration. And yes, our treatments can help undo some of that old damage and give your skin a little reset to the good old days. Simple shifts in your skincare practices sooner rather than later can set your skin on a better path—much like ensuring your car is in optimal condition before embarking on a long trip ensures a smoother, more enjoyable journey.
4. Making Deep Sleep a Focus
Deep sleep, or the stage of sleep known as slow-wave sleep, is crucial for physical restoration and skin rejuvenation. During deep sleep, your body goes into repair mode, regenerating cells, increasing blood flow to the skin, and releasing growth hormones that contribute to a healthier complexion. Prioritizing deep sleep by maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, creating a restful environment, and avoiding stimulants before bedtime can significantly enhance your skin’s natural healing processes.
5. Walking Every Day For At Least 20 Minutes
Daily walking has profound benefits for both general health and skin health. Regular walking improves circulation, which increases oxygen and nutrient supply to the skin, giving it a more vibrant and healthy appearance. Additionally, walking is a great stress reliever; reducing stress is beneficial for reducing outbreaks of skin conditions like acne or eczema due to lowered cortisol levels.
Conclusion: Start Now
The best time to start these health practices is now. Don't wait for tomorrow, for tomorrow is always another day off. Take action. Embrace these habits today to not only maintain your skin’s current state but also to repair and enhance its overall health over time. Your future self will thank you for the vibrant and healthy skin you will enjoy, reflecting both your internal well-being and boosting your self-esteem.

The Hidden Risks of Chlorinated Water
As part of our commitment to holistic wellness, this week we focus on a common yet often overlooked health concern: the impact of chlorinated water on our skin and overall health. [Available Appointments at the bottom of the message] (https://book.squareup.com/appointments/i0ocxlum00bxsj/location/DWVRQ10XR2D6V/services?utm_source=sqmktg_email)
Unfortunately, what we don't know can still hurt us. Like a very slow drip, it's the accumulative affect on our bodies that we might not pin point to chlorinated water.
Chlorine & Skin Health: What's the Damage?
Chlorine is a powerful disinfectant added to our water supply to combat harmful bacteria and diseases. However, its benefits in our tap and shower water come with unintended consequences. Chlorine can strip natural oils from our skin and hair, leading to dryness, irritation, and premature aging. Those with sensitive skin or conditions like eczema may notice exacerbated symptoms after prolonged exposure to chlorinated water.
Beyond the Surface: Chlorine's Internal Impact
Ingesting chlorine from unfiltered drinking water can disturb our internal balance. It can potentially impact our gut flora, crucial for digestion and immunity, and contribute to the formation of harmful by-products, such as trihalomethanes, which have been linked to increased cancer risks.
Proactive Measures for Chlorine Exposure
Shower Filters: Install a high-quality shower filter to reduce chlorine exposure while bathing. These filters can significantly decrease the absorption of chlorine through your skin and inhalation of steam containing chlorine byproducts. Dollar for dollar, a shower filter is one of the least expensive things you can do for your health.
Water Filtration Systems: Using whole-house or drinking water filters can reduce or eliminate chlorine from your water, safeguarding your skin and internal health. Look for filters certified to remove chlorine and its by-products.
Antioxidant-Rich Skincare: Incorporate products like our Vitamin C serums and other antioxidants in your skincare routine. Vitamin C neutralizes chlorine and mitigates its oxidative damage, helping to keep your skin radiant and healthy.
Hydrate and Protect: Increase your intake of filtered or spring water and use moisturizers that reinforce your skin's natural barrier, providing an extra layer of protection against environmental pollutants.
At Little Oasis Spa, we believe in the power of natural solutions to enhance our well-being. Understanding the impacts of what seems as benign as our water quality plays a vital part in this journey. We encourage you to take these simple yet effective steps to protect and rejuvenate your skin and health against chlorine exposure. It's easy enough to do, but easy enough to forget about also.
This information aligns with our holistic approach to wellness, emphasizing prevention and the use of natural remedies to support the body's own healing abilities. If you need assistance selecting the right products or have further questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us at the spa.
To your best health...

Drink Up This Skin Elixir
Most of us love coffee and other drinks that may have some benefits - but caffeine filled drinks are also dehydrating. Your body -- and that includes your skin -- love the opposite: Hydrating.
Here's a simple, revitalizing drink you can make using fresh ingredients to nourish your body -- and just give your taste buds a boost.
Ingredients:
* 1 large cucumber
* A handful of fresh mint leaves
* 1 lemon
* 1 inch of ginger root
* 1 liter of purified water
Instructions:
* Start Fresh: Begin by thoroughly washing the cucumber, mint leaves, lemon, and ginger under cold running water.
* Peel and Slice: Peel the ginger root and slice it thinly. Cut the cucumber into thin slices. Slice the lemon into rounds.
* Combine: In a large pitcher, combine the cucumber slices, ginger slices, and mint leaves. Squeeze in the lemon rounds to release their juices before dropping them into the mix.
* Infuse: Fill the pitcher with purified water. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients. Let the mixture infuse for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator. For a stronger flavor and more potent benefits, let it infuse overnight.
* Serve and Enjoy: Serve the elixir chilled. For an extra touch of refreshment, add a few ice cubes and a sprig of mint to each glass.
Why Your Skin Will Love It:
* Cucumber: Hydrates and cools the skin, thanks to its high silica content, promoting elasticity and clarity.
* Mint: Soothes skin irritations and refreshes your complexion with its high levels of Vitamin A.
* Lemon: Brightens the skin and supports collagen production with its Vitamin C richness.
* Ginger: Enhances circulation and imparts a natural glow with its anti-inflammatory properties.
* Water: Essential for flushing out toxins, keeping the skin clear and well-hydrated.
Integrating this Herbal Skin Elixir into your daily regimen is a simple yet effective step towards achieving a glowing complexion.
It's more than just a drink; it's a ritual that celebrates the beauty of natural wellness. When you drink it, ponder the real ingredients in the drink. We invite you to embrace this elixir as part of your journey towards radiant, healthy skin.
From our daily skin routines (cleansing, sunblock, etc.), to the foods and drinks we consume, to the exercise we get, to the sleep, and the customized treatments we provide here at Little Oasis Spa...Everything adds up to give you the best you.

You Have The Power To Enhance
Or Hinder This Essential Molecule
We hope this message finds you radiant and thriving -- even in the rain! Today, we're focusing on a fundamental aspect of health that affects everything from your mood to your skin: oxygen.
The Power of Oxygen: Exercise Your Way to Radiant Health and Skin
Oxygen is literally the breath of life! If you stop breathing for a matter of minutes, life is over. Many people are oxygen deprived while living...It plays a pivotal role in our overall health and the appearance of our skin. Increasing your body's oxygen levels through exercise delivers multiple, compound effects.
Boosts Collagen Production:
Exercise increases blood flow, helping to nourish skin cells and keep them vital. Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to working cells throughout the body, including the skin. In addition to providing oxygen, this increased blood flow also helps flush cellular debris out of the system. It’s a natural cleaning system you can control.
Detoxifies the Body
By increasing the rate of breathing, exercise helps flush out impurities and toxins through the lungs and skin. This natural detox process can lead to clearer, more glowing skin.
Reduces Stress
Physical activity increases the production of endorphins, your brain's feel-good neurotransmitters. This can reduce stress and anxiety, which in turn reduces the likelihood of stress-induced acne and other skin issues. Consider adding in even a few minutes of “gross impact sports” — sports that involve hitting a ball (tennis or pickleball or hitting a heavy bag). Think of the impact as pushing the stress out of your body into the ball or heavy bag.
Improves Sleep Quality
Regular exercisers often report better sleep patterns. Since the skin’s repair processes occur mainly at night, improved sleep quality can enhance skin regeneration and rejuvenation. For most, more strenuous exercise earlier in the day and walking after dinner will serve you best for a better night's sleep.
Enhances Immunity
Moderate, consistent exercise boosts the immune system, which helps the body fight off infections, including those that can affect the skin.
Embrace Movement for Your Best Health
Remember, exercise should become something you generally enjoy. Yes, there should be some strenuous moments for building strength or increasing your lung capacity that aren't so fun. But those are moments you know are helping you stay strong and healthy. The rest of your exercise, from playing a sport to walking, should something you look forward to doing.
Lastly, never underestimate the power of a few minutes of exercise scattered throughout the day — especially if you’re required to sit a lot. Just like the sun damaging your face is cumulative (a few minutes here and few minutes there without sunblock during the wrong times of day end up equaling too much) — the cumulative affect of exercise on your health and skin can’t be denied.
Even with some of our customized skin treatments — what do we use? Oxygen Infusion.
Your journey to a healthier, more radiant you, both inside and out, is a path we're excited to support you on. Here’s to breathing deep and living well!
We look forward to seeing you soon!

Are You Deprived Of This Health Enhancing Molecule? (many are)
One Simple Shift Can Deliver
Profound Health Benefits
Breathe Right, Look Bright: Unlocking the Secret to Healthier Skin and Body
The way you breathe can significantly influence not only your overall health but also the health and appearance of your skin. Today, we’re focusing on the differences between nose breathing and mouth breathing, and why nose breathing is the golden key to unlocking a myriad of health benefits.
Nose Breathing vs. Mouth Breathing
At first glance, breathing might appear as just a necessary bodily function. However, the route through which we inhale air—mouth or nose—can have profound effects on our overall health and wellbeing. Here’s why nose breathing is superior:
* Filtration and Purification: Your nose acts as a natural filter, trapping dust and other particles, which is something the mouth cannot do. This leads to cleaner air reaching your lungs. Who doesn’t want cleaner air?
* Optimal Oxygen Absorption: Nose breathing helps in better oxygenation of your body by maintaining the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in your blood.
* Boosts Nitric Oxide Production: Breathing through your nose increases the production of nitric oxide, a crucial molecule for enhancing blood flow, including to your skin, which certainly won’t help with your skin health.
* Promotes Calmness and Relaxation: It encourages slower, deeper breaths, which activate the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing stress and its negative impact on your skin, such as inflammation and acne. If you want to instantly help your body, before eating — close your eyes and take three, slow deep breathes through your nose.
Benefits of Improved Oxygen Intake
Since the way we breathe affects oxygen intake, that has a cascade of benefits for our health and our skin. Let’s look at the benefits for your skin:
* Enhanced Skin Glow: Improved blood flow and oxygenation to the skin can result in a radiant, more youthful complexion.
* Detoxification: Better oxygen levels support the body's ability to rid itself of toxins, which can otherwise impact your skin's health.
* Cell Regeneration: Adequate oxygen is crucial for the regeneration of skin cells, helping your skin heal faster and stay vibrant.
* Reduction in Stress-Related Skin Issues: By promoting relaxation and reducing stress, nose breathing can decrease the occurrence of stress-induced skin problems like acne and eczema.
Incorporating Nose Breathing Into Your Routine
Embracing nose breathing doesn’t have to be complicated. Start by being mindful of your breathing throughout the day, ensuring you’re using your nose rather than your mouth.
Practice deep, slow nasal breathing during moments of rest, and gradually, it will become second nature. Practice it when exercising…I remember watching retired tennis great Roger Federer on the court, in the heat of an intense match, mouth closed. He was obviously breathing through his nose.
Remember, the path to radiant skin and a healthier body is multifaceted, involving the right skincare regimen, nutrition, and yes, even the way we breathe. This week, we encourage you to focus on this simple yet effective practice. Breathe right, and watch your skin—and your health—transform.
Nothing is instantaneous. Expecting quick results often leads to stress, but taking effective action right away does the opposite. Relax and begin the process of nose breathing today. What you may need to do consciously today will become instinctively automatic soon enough.
Have a great day!

Our Story
I’m Nhan Fitzpatrick, and I absolutely love helping people look and feel better about their skin. And this only happens by helping them realize visible results. For 19 years now, I’ve had the joy of seeing people’s appearance change, and the smiles it brings to their face. Getting results for my clients is an obsession.
As a teenager, and into early adulthood, I had terrible acne no one could fix. So I dove deep into studying the skin to fix myself. Even though I had already graduated college with a Bachelor’s degree in Business, I actually studied to become an esthetician to fix myself. And skin was my love. A clue in college should have been my enjoyment of Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology the most.
Soon after, I fell in love in helping others with their appearance. It’s been said, “Unless you experience something personally, you’ll never fully understand someone else’s problem.” And that goes with anti-aging as well. I’m tackling it with a passion — okay it’s an obsession again. This time the obsession came from seeing the results I was achieving for my clients. And I realized forty is closer than thirty for me. With the support and encouragement from my amazing husband — who for the good of our family has his own obsession with nutrition and wellness — I’ve continued to explore and test the most advanced ways to combine organic and natural ingredients with more advanced non-invasive treatments. I always tell my clients, the key to gorgeous skin is a combination of science, nature and relaxation.
