Animal massage ... it's a thing. People should take the hint. It's self-care; it's healthcare; it isn't a luxury. We actually NEED to be touched.

Daily life in the modern world can be physically taxing β long hours in front of a computer, a taxing or even debilitating lack of proper ergonomics in the workplace and the gradual deterioration from the slow steady drip, drip, drip of cortisol from job stressors. Massage is NOT just for athletes.
Let me help.
For the athletes, make me a part of your training and/or maintenance, even muscle volumization for bodybuilding and physique competitions. My work is the edge you are missing.
I was the on-site LMT for the USTA tennis competitions at the Fort Lauderdale Tennis Club for 3 years, and worked in-house for a chiropractor in LA through most of 2012.
I have strong experience in working on injuries β strains and sprains, tendonitis and spasmodic muscles, post-surgical recovery, restoring range of motion due to old and/or accumulated injuries.
Put my skills to work for you in maintaining your body in optimum working order.
To all my FB friends and family, I will be taking my table with me to PS tomorrow, staying at the Days Inn, so feel free to hit me up for some serious therapeutic bodywork to make your Leather Pride experience more enjoyable!

Sending a shout out to my SF friends n family that I will be coming into town Wed the 24th, taking off Monday the 28th!! I'll be bringing my table for the benefit of those missing my work - shoot me a text if you want to book some time!
So many of the unwitting therapists being cranked out by the diploma mills make no real attempt to explore the state of their clients' bodies and find out what they need. Due to the nature of the schools, most donβt have the tools to do so anyway. I hear so often that there is no shortage of therapists anywhere in the country, but finding one with talent AND skill among them is exceedingly difficult.
When it comes to addressing the needs of hypertonic muscles ("tightness" and/or "knots" that often reduce range of motion) many are acquainted only with cross-fiber friction, lacking the knowledge of other techniques to release excess tension without inflicting far more discomfort or pain than is strictly necessary.
Many therapists are concerned about hurting their clients, using too much pressure, completely unaware what stresses the body can actually take before the threshold of pain is even approached. These generally remain unresponsive to requests for deeper work that would be more beneficial to the body. They aren't generally attuned to the true benefit of the different techniques of massage, and may be perceived as disengaged from the work when they do not provide what is asked for.
The answer?
Find another, more capable therapist.
It is WELL worth the search.
What kind of bodywork are you looking for?
"Relaxation" is a word that comes to many peoples' minds, but what does that really mean?
A massage that just makes you feel good on the surface rarely lasts for more than a few hours after treatment. After that, you'd never know that you had one- as ephemeral as cotton candy. Among therapists, those are often referred to as "fluff and fold" massages. The prevalence of this sort of treatment is one of the number one reasons why massage is viewed as a luxury. Honestly, if that's all it were about, all it could be, I would consider it not only a luxury but a waste of my hard-earned money and my time.
Real therapeutic bodywork lasts.
It can stick with you for weeks afterwards, restoring movement patterns that have become restricted by pain or the fear of pain. The reaction to pain or the expectation of pain is called "guarding", and once it sets in the body must be guided in healing and reeducated with repeated deep work to restore healthy movement patterns.
And to the public and my fellow massage therapists:
It cost me $15,000 to get certified and licensed.
Our profession is SKILLED LABOR.
$10 an hour is starvation wages for UN-skilled labor!
Massage Envy pays c. $12-15 on average! The spas charge $125-200 an hour but pay the therapists $50 an hour TOPS!
None of the spas provide benefits of any kind, and they don't pay overtime.
Be aware that trying to talk a therapist down from his price point is insulting.
We need to stop electing people who are shills for the experts in steering more and more capital to Wall Street. Thanks to Storm is Coming

Time is no one's friend.
It saddles us with aches and pains that creep up and seemingly fade away again, only to return. It reduces our range of motion and brings stiffness.
Let my strong, gentle hands free you.
What have been your greatest challenges in finding a massage therapist to get the work done that you need?
What does massage mean to you? How does it fit into your life β if at all?
My garden oasis. Working out in the garden is amazing, but always just as happy to pack the table up and bring it to y'all.
Those of you here in San Diego visiting for ComiCon or other business, I'm talking to YOU! :)
Think about doing something to alleviate the wear and tear of your travels and busy schedule with some myo-fascial deep tissue by a strong slow and gentle pair of hands!!
The Universe hands you what you need when you need it. Had a talk with a client on the massage table about being more the reed in the wind than hunkering down behind the armor of the Fortress of Solitude inside ... the effort of maintaining the Fortress makes the slings n arrows hurt much more in the long run. Then came the realization that I don't have to be the reed, either. If I can give up that sense of being/need/ego, I can be the wind itself, and allow it all to simply pass through me, remaining untouched.

More often than not, therapeutic massage is life-affirming to the point of being soul-moving. Saying it is magical is by no means overstating what it can accomplish. These are some of the greatest reasons I pursued learning the craft and continue to earn my Continuing Ed credits and hone my skills year after year.
