We could all use a little emotional support...chicken! Last month at the guild meeting, during show and tell, Virginia debuted her emotional support chicken. This pattern was written by Annette Corsino at the Knitting Tree, LA and it has become a so-cal knitting obsession. This adorable softie has been in my queue for a while now, so she is the spotligh...

A Splash of Color -
A Splash of Color Stranded colorwork or Fair Isle is an amazing way to add some vibrant colors to your knitted projects. This technique is not as common in crochet, but crochet has a similar technique called mosaic crochet that also allows you to incorporate multiple colors into your projects.
Obsessed with Cables -
Obsessed with Cables When I was first learning to knit, cables were this magical thing that I could not wrap my head around, and I was obsessed with them as a design element. When I was in Ireland, on one of the Aran Islands, in the gift shop there were two older ladies, gossiping away in Irish, and knitting traditional...
Birds of a feather flock together -
Birds of a feather flock together The holidays are over, so we can hold up on snowflakes and gnomes, ornaments and candy canes. And all things red, white and green. Valentine’s Day is next month, but it is not a holiday I usually spend a lot of time knitting for.
TGIF, am I right? -
TGIF, am I right? I was going to feature some shawls today, and I settled on Stephen West’s Painting Bricks Shawl. I have had this pattern queued for a while. The bright colors, the suggestion of stained glass. It’s gorgeous!

Doing last minute making? -
Doing last minute making? There are only 2 patterns this week because my ravelry pick was already pretty simple. I chose two cowls which are made with bulky or super bulky yarn. Heavy yarn is one of the secrets to quick holiday gifts! The knit version is on my holiday giving list. I’m going to do it in madelintosh ASAP.

Everyone loves a softie! -
Everyone loves a softie! What’s better in your Christmas stocking or mixed in with your Hanuka gelt than an octopus? A lot of people make beanies and blankets for babies. I like to make toys. But octopi remain at the top of the trendy animal charts and these little guys would make a cute gift for anyone!
Smaller projects are great stocking stuffers -
Smaller projects are great stocking stuffers Looking for some great handmade gifts that will not take you a month each to make? Dishcloths, coasters, tea towels all make excellent gifts. They don’t require a substantial amount of yarn and you can really go crazy with colors. However, these are not great for all your amazing hand dyed sock ya...
