The leading cause of injuries in the workplace - falls!

To prevent fall injuries, those in the construction and non-construction industries must prioritize safety on the job.

To keep your worksite safe, follow these tips.

๐Ÿ’ Ensure all workers are trained on proper safety procedures, including using safety equipment such as harnesses and guardrails.
๐Ÿ’ Regularly inspect equipment to ensure that it is in good working order and that workers know how to use it properly.
๐Ÿ’ Keep the worksite clean and organized to reduce the risk of trips and falls. This means regularly cleaning up debris and making sure that tools and equipment are appropriately stored when not in use.
๐Ÿ’ Another important tip is to take frequent breaks and stay hydrated. Working long hours on your feet can be physically demanding, and it's essential to give your body the rest and hydration it needs to stay safe and prevent falls.

Overall, the key to fall prevention on the job is prioritizing safety, training workers on proper procedures, and regularly inspecting equipment and worksites. By taking these steps, we can reduce the risk of falls and keep our worksites safe this season and all year round.

Contact us at (702) 380-1712 or visit www.snohc.com to learn more about our services and how we can better serve your business.

Nail guns are used daily in numerous construction projects throughout the United States.

Although they increase productivity, they also result in thousands of serious injuries annually. Nail gun injuries are frequent; according to one research, 2 out of every 5 residential carpenter trainees sustained a nail gun injury over four years. 1 out of 5 was injured twice. And 1 out of 10 was injured three or more times.

More construction workers are hospitalized due to nail gun injuries than any other type of tool-related accident. These wounds are frequently not recorded, and the proper medical care is not given when they happen.

SNOHC provides quality care for work-related injuries. Call us for a free consultation!

There are six practical steps that contractors can take to prevent these injuries:
โ€ข Use full sequential trigger nail guns
โ€ข Provide proper training
โ€ข Establish nail gun work procedures
โ€ข Provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
โ€ข Encourage reporting and discussion of injuries and close calls.
โ€ข Provide first aid and medical treatment

To learn more about the hazards nail guns pose, please visit www.osha.gov/nail-gun-safety.

SNOHC treats all work-related injuries, including those resulting from nail guns. Workers' health and safety is our specialty. With over 15 years of experience, we are your best choice for work-related injury evaluation and treatment.

โšก Electrical work can be hazardous. โšก

Professionals, including engineers, electricians, and many others, deal directly with electricity, working on circuit assemblies, cable harnesses, and overhead lines.

Many employees are more susceptible to the risk of electrocution because they are not aware of the various electrical hazards that could be present at work. Contact with power lines, a lack of ground fault protection, a missing or broken path to the ground, improper use of equipment, extension cords, and flexible cords are the most common causes of electrical injuries.

Electricity has long been acknowledged as a severe industrial hazard. Electrical safety regulations set forth by OSHA are maintained to protect workers from risks like electrical shock, electrocution, fires, and explosions. Visit www.osha.gov/electrical for more detailed information regarding your profession.

SNOHC continues to evaluate, treat, and manage work-related injuries, including electricity-related ones.

Workplace stress is the harmful physical and emotional responses that occur when the job requirements do not match the workers' capabilities, resources, or needs. Job stress can lead to poor health, reduced productivity, and workplace injury.

According to NIOSH, studies show that job stress can lead to:
โ€ข Cardiovascular Disease
โ€ข Musculoskeletal Disorders
โ€ข Psychological Disorders
โ€ข Workplace Injury
โ€ข Su***de

Learning how to handle and healthily manage stress is significant. These include recognizing and changing the behaviors contributing to stress and techniques for reducing it once it has occurred.

โ€ข Identify your stressors: track which situations create the most stress and how you respond to them. Record your thoughts, feelings, and information, including the people and circumstances involved.
โ€ข Develop health responses: Exercise is an excellent de-stressor. Avoid fighting stress with fast food or alcohol. Also, make time for hobbies and favorite activities.
โ€ข Establish boundaries: create clear boundaries between work and home life.
โ€ข Learn how to relax: Meditation, deep breathing exercises, and mindfulness can help relieve stress.
โ€ข Talk to your supervisor: have an open conversation with your supervisor to devise an effective plan for managing the stressor you've identified. Employee health is linked to productivity at work.
โ€ข Find support: accepting help from friends and family members can help your ability to manage stress. Your employer may also have stress management resources, including counseling and a mental health professional referral.

SNOHC aims to improve employees' physical and mental health in a productive work environment. We offer various occupational health services.

According to OSHA, over 28,000 workers in concrete manufacturing experience a job-related injury or illness yearly.

Safety concerns throughout the concrete production process include when Portland cement and pre-cast concrete products are made and when concrete is used for construction.

Concrete is one of the most frequently utilized building materials globally. For workers in concrete manufacturing, there are multiple potential hazards.

Exposure to Cement Dust can lead to eye, nose, throat, and respiratory tract irritation. Skin contact may result in moderate irritation and cracking of the skin - skin damage may occur from chemical burns. Silica exposure can lead to silicosis and lung cancer.
Wet Concrete poses similar hazards, such as first-, second-, or third-degree burns from exposure.

There are multiple solutions to the hazards above, including wearing the appropriate PPE - respirator, gloves, eye protection, and coveralls.
Visit the OSHA website for more detailed information - www.osha.gov/concrete-products.

Noise exposure in the workplace isn't just a nuisance. It can be a serious hazard!

Occupational Noise Exposure is the quantity of noise a person is exposed to while working, which can cause hearing loss and other physical and mental problems. Employers can take steps to limit noise and offer hearing protection, like earplugs or earmuffs, to lessen the dangers of exposure to loud noise.

Employers should follow the OSHA Hearing Conservation Program and give annual audiograms to workers exposed to noise levels at or above 85 dB to check for hearing loss. With these audiograms, employees may monitor any changes in their hearing and take precautions to preserve it.

At SNOHC, we provide audiograms for employers in compliance with the OSHA Hearing Conservation Program.
