Culinary Students Brandon Romo, Taliyah Crowder, Fernando Hernandez, Isis Brummet, Valeria Vera, and Alumni Stephan Mendoza volunteered to work at an event at Border Grill at Mandalay Bay on Friday October 25th. They worked a variety of positions: serving, bussing, and grilling. They were introduced to one of the founders, Susan Feniger, who gave big props to the kids.
Quote from Isis Brummet:
Working as a Volunteer Busser at Border Grill Mandalay Bay during their “Mexican Food + Wine Festival” was an amazing experience as I got to see the behind the scenes of what it’s like to work in the culinary industry.
I was tasked with setting up the tables, carrying away dirty dishes, and assisting the vendors in any way possible. All of the staff and guests were very friendly, creating a comfortable and welcoming environment. Infamous Chef Susan also allowed the volunteers to tour the restaurant’s main kitchen upstairs which could cook up to 600 meals! I would definitely love to volunteer at Border Grill again.
Quote from Brandon Romo:
“The Border Grill is filled with nothing but amazing people who seek the best for you!”
