Nailing the sweet spots for exercise training

Did you know ?

Strength training adds another 19% reduction in all-cause mortality on top of the 45% reduction that you get from one hour of moderate exercise per day. However, benefits cease once you go beyond one hour per week. The sweet spot is 20 to 40 minutes of strength training, two to three times a week. Above 60 minutes per week, the benefits of strength training are nullified, and you’re worse off than if you did no resistance training at all

RESULTS!

A fitness client was complaining of doing exercises at home and his shoulder was bothering him. He tried to stretch it out, but to no avail. He demonstrated his pain with large circular painful range of movement with clicking noted.

#1 : We limited his motion by isolating movements in a functional pattern. Up and forward and down and back. The arm movement was limited and only the shoulder blade was permitted. We did this via verbal /visual cuing.

#2: His core was then facilitated with these scapula movements to provide a neurological input for his brain to feel "safe".

This took a whole of 5 minutes.

RESULTS!!

The client was able to move pain free in full range after.

Lu's fitness endeavor started in the United States Marine boot camp. While in the Marines, fitness was paramount aspects of training that pushed him out of his comfort zone where he became an efficient runner completing five miles and achieving total body strengths he thought he never had. After he left the Marines Corps, Lu completed an accredited personal trainer certification with the National Academy of Sports Medicine in 2002 and received certifications with N.A.S.M. in Corrective Exercise Specialty, TRX suspension training, ISCA Boxing, and Post Cancer Exercise Specialty certification with Annett Lang.

Lu has trained in many popular commercial fitness chains around NYC and Long Island. Training hands on in gym trenches with many diverse client populations including special needs clients. Lu's passion in his own fitness and in how the human body functions drives him to help others experience positive changes in their health changing their lives.
