Glimmers
These small things we notice can bring a sense of calm, connection, peace, and safety. They can be found in nature, in our homes and workplaces, and in artistic decorations. Some examples of glimmers include smelling lavender, petting a pet, being in nature, or making eye contact with someone who smiles at you.
Triggers
These can be emotional, environmental, or social situations that can evoke negative memories of unresolved trauma. They can be internal, like feeling lonely, or external, like hearing a song that takes you back to another time. Triggers can activate the sympathetic nervous system, which is the “fight or flight” response.
