Always, always be nice to any of the clerks of court. They are overworked and overburdened. They play a critical role in the judicial system and are a major component of records keeping. It is my experience that if you treat them with the respect and courtesy they deserve, they can be a huge help to both practitioners and non-practitioners as well.

Heard a great family law story today. Guy divorced his wife for having an affair and, bc Florida is a no-fault state, he still had to pay alimony. Well he eventually he found another woman and got a picture of her & himself on his checks which he used to pay his ex-wife her alimony payments with.

Services set for Harvey Ruvin, 85, the veteran Miami clerk turned environmental rapper Clerk of Courts Harvey Ruvin, Miami-Dade County’s longest-serving elected official, and a noted environmentalist who once did a rap video in his 70s at the urging of film legend Robert Redford, died on New Year’s Eve at 85. The cause was cancer, his family said.

A fisherman spotted her just east of the Faralon Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so badly off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her…. a very dangerous proposition. One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer.
They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, nudged them, and pushed gently, thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.
The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.
