We lost two close matches to the Emerald Pointe Drop Shots today on a cold morning.
The Eagles hosted the Maple Leaf Slammers this morning with some great competitive tennis. We won one-out-of-three. Reed and Herb won on court 2, Jim and Jeff lost court 1, Bob and Carlos lost court 2. This keeps us in a tie for first place.
I haven’t posted anything about the last 3 matches. We did well. Winning 7 and losing 2. Here are some pictures
The Lakeside Plantation Eagles got back to tennis after the holidays by hosting our first home match against the Burnt Store Red Barons. The day was disappointing, loosing all three courts in straight sets. At least we have pictures.
The Eagles went to Emerald Pointe to take on the Pythons on a chilly morning today. We came out winning one and loosing two. Mike and Jim took care of business on court one, 6-2, 6-0. Joe and Herb lost a heartbreaker/tiebreaker on court 2, 4-6, 6-4, 0-1 (7-10). John and Bob had a rough time on court three, loosing 3-6, 2-6. We have played everybody once, and have a 10-5 record. (we play each team 4 times to complete the 20-week season by April 1).
The Lakeside Plantation Eagles traveled to Punta Gorda Isles Yacht Club and took 2 out of 3 from the Fighting Ibis, improving to a record of 9 wins and 3 losses. Mike and Dennis took court one, 6-4, 6-3. Joe and George won on court 2, 6-4, 6-4. Carlos and Bob had a tough time on court 3, loosing 1-6, 1-6. Next week we go to Emerald Pointe to take on the Pythons.
Lakeside Plantation Eagles went to Burnt Store today and took two out of three to improve our record to 7 wins and 2 losses. Mike and George started out hot but fell apart on court 1, loosing 6-0, 2-6, 0-1 (7-10). The opposite happened on court 3. Bob and Jeff were cold to start, but came on strong to win 0-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-7). Joe and Herb took court 2, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2).
The Lakeside Plantation Eagles traveled to Emerald Pointe and swept the Dropshots to improve to 5-1 on the season. On court 3, Bob and Carlos had a 2-1/2 hour marathon but came out on top 7-6 (14-12), 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (10-6). Mike and George took court 1, 6-2, 6-1. Joe and Herb won with a retirement on Court 2, 6-1, 3-1. Next week we go down to Burnt Store Marina to take on the Red Barons.

Mike and Dennis breezed on court #1 6-0, 6-0. Joe and George started off slowly on court #2, but came on strong and won 7-5, 6-3. Herb and Reed lost a tough one on court #3, 6-3, 6-4. Next Thursday we travel to Emerald Pointe to take on the Drop Shots.
Lakeside Plantation Eagles had a great tennis day today. We hosted Maple Leaf. They have beaten up on us all season (we were 1-8 against them before today). They only came with two teams, so, we got a forfeit win on #3. On court 2, Joe and Greg lost the first set, but came back and won the second set tiebreaker and the third set tiebreaker. 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 1-0 (10-4). On court 1, Mike and Yarrow were behind 2-5 in the first set but won 5 games in-a-row and won the third set tiebreak. 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-4).
After today’s match, Greg and Joan hosted the team for a great meal.
That gives us a record of 28-29 with one week (3 matches) left in the season. We have been a little lucky going 5-0 in tiebreakers in the last two weeks.
Lakeside Plantation Eagles took all three courts at home today against the Emerald Point Dropshots. That puts us above .500 with a 20-19 for now (we play the first place team next week). John and Dennis won court one 6-0, 6-3. Yarrow and Greg took court two 6-1, 6-2. On court three, Mike and Reed had a battle in the first set but came out on top 7-6 (7-1), 6-2.

We took all three at Emerald Pointe today. Mike and Greg lost the first set but came back in the tiebreaker. 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8). Jim and John won court two with a resignation (and they won the consolation match). Herb and Joe took court three 6-1, 7-5.
The Eagles took two out of three against LaCasa on a very windy day today. Mike and Dennis cruised on court 1, 6-0, 6-2. Joe and John W won the tiebreaker on court 2: 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7). Bob and John E almost forced a third set on court 3, but lost 2-6, 6-7 (4-7).
The Emerald Pointe Drop Shots came to Lakeside Plantation today to face The Eagles for a week-3 makeup match. Mike and Dennis took care of business on Court one: 6-2, 6-2. George and Mark played valiantly on court three and came up short 3-6, 5-7.
The Eagles took two out of three from the Riverwood Hawks today. This was a week-2 makeup game.
Dennis and Mike lost court one 2-6, 4-6. On court two George and Jim lost the first set but came back to win the third-set tiebreaker. 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9). Joe and Bob won court three in straight sets 6-1, 6-4.
Tennis season began today with two matches at La Casa. Joe and George played well on court two and won 6-0, 6-1. Mike and Dennis had a slow start on court one, but came back and won the tiebreaker. 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-2).
The new schedule is out. We start November 3 at La Casa. We moved up to B3 division this season. Going to have a lot of fun.
In the last match of the season, Mike and Yarrow lost on court one 4-6, 3-6. Joe and Dave won on court two 7-5, 6-1. That gives us a final record of 40 wins and 23 losses for a 63% win ratio. We finished second out of eight teams in our division. Looking forward to next year!
Great tennis today as the Eagles took all three matches at the PGICA Pelicans home court today.
Court 1—Mike and Joe dug a hole by loosing the first set 1-6. But they came back strong and took the second set 6-2 and won the third-set tiebreaker 10-3.
Court 2—Jim and Dave won handily in straight sets.
Court 3— In a match that lasted over two hours, Gerard and Bob won the first set 7-6; lost the second set 4-6. They came back and won the third-set tiebreaker 10-6.
