♥️ Betty Boop Birthday Time ♥️

My cousin is a Betty Boop lover so I made this cake for her birthday!!

It’s two layers of almond cake, filled with fresh strawberries and homemade whipped cream. I frosted it with my almond buttercream and used edible icing imaging. I topped it with cupcakes, handmade chocolate hearts, chocolate dipped strawberries and whipped cream stars.

I paid homage to Betty’s notorious gold/white heart garter by bordering the cake with one! As a finishing touch, I dusted it all with edible gold glitter! So cute!!

Hi everyone 👋

I have some news. I’ve been thinking about my next steps for Feed the Knead. As most of you know, I bake part-time and I’m fast approaching my primary job’s busy season. This leaves me with having to heavily consider two things:

1️⃣ The best way to serve my gluten-free community

AND

2️⃣ The best way to use my time while minimizing costs (to me and you).

Finding a balance between these two aspects has been a challenge but I think I’ve found a solution based on client demand.

I’ve decided to provide my clients with custom order cakes/cookies/cupcakes for holidays and special occasions.

I LOVE creating and decorating gluten-free treats in the kitchen! I also think that a lot of us in the gluten-free community have to risk cross-contamination from a traditional bakery whenever we want a unique, celebration treat so I want to create a safe place to provide that for all of you!

⚠️ I will be discontinuing my weekly treat menu ⚠️

I love coming up with new treat menus BUT they are not the best way to utilize my time and lower costs - the weekly demand just isn’t there.

AND

I am also a Type 1 Diabetic with a sweet tooth - so having treats around the house CONSTANTLY hasn’t been the best for my blood sugars 😂 I did consider using sugar substitutes but I’m really not into using artificial sweeteners. The neuro and digestive side effects are just not worth it to me 🤚🏼

I don’t want to give up baking so I have to come up with a solution that’s right for me and you 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’m a real person, with real challenges and health issues.

I have been a Type 1 Diabetic since I was 9 years old (over 30 years) and have been Celiac for the past 18 years. I have ALWAYS been a FOODIE. Those that know me can surely vouch that you may go without some things around me, but you will never go HUNGRY 😆 I took that love for good food and have been honing in on my gluten-free, carb-conscious kitchen skills since I set foot in the kitchen.

Providing tasty, gluten-free treats to others is a passion but so is catering to my fellow T1D Warriors and others who would like to enjoy treats without being hit hard afterward. Moving forward, I’ve decided to do just that; regularly offer low/no sugar options 💙.

We all deserve to have treats in our life, my goal is to make yours just a little sweeter.
