Happy to announce that I’ve been selected as a Fellow for Stanford’s Hoover Institute! Finally got accepted to a west coast school 😂

The Hoover Institution Announces 2023–24 Class Of Veteran Fellows Located on the campus of Stanford University and in Washington, DC, the Hoover Institution is the nation’s preeminent research center dedicated to generating policy ideas that promote economic prosperity, national security, and democratic governance.

Wrapped up my last seminar with guest speaker, Marquel Sennet, the former Shreveport Communications Director currently serving in the same role at the Caddo Parish School Board. Ms. Sennet spoke about her time as a reporter, in the Mayor’s Office, and the current local media landscape. She candidly shared the successes and challenges of communicating in an information dense environment, the proliferation of disinformation, and strategies for public officials to break through the noise. The UChicago students and I were grateful to cap off the semester with such a superstar visit.

Had a great time yesterday with my first guest speaker who was none other than former Shreveport Chief Technology Officer, Keith Hanson. Keith spoke to the University of Chicago Students about his experiences in local government, particularly around his efforts bridging the digital divide. Hopefully, this next generation of leaders won’t be dealing with digital access problems, but if so, after yesterday’s discussion they’ll be better prepared to solve them.

Proof that while I was in office our crime reduction strategies were working!

Shreveport is the safest big city in the State of Louisiana and one of the safest in the South.

I am proud of the men and women of the Shreveport Police Department, leadership on the council, and all of my administration for putting in the work to make a real change in our city!

The Louisiana Department of Health has rescinded the system-wide boil advisory for the City of Shreveport. Customers can now resume normal water use.

The City of Shreveport remains under a boil advisory. If you need water you can stop by the Shreveport Fire Department Maintenance Facility until 5pm.

Water distribution is HAPPENING now until 5pm today.

UPDATE: The Department of Water and Sewerage continues to address water main breaks and assist with cutoffs. I am deeply grateful for the crews who sacrificed their Christmas Eve and Christmas Day plans with their families to continue to restore water to our citizens.

Due to the Christmas Holiday, there will be some changes to the garbage collection schedule.
