Did you know? In 2003 The John Roberts House, built in 1794, was saved from developers by Richie Allman. The building was moved two miles to the grounds of the Inn, and painstakingly restored.

Since then, the addition (pictured) has been added to the original building, providing the property with more space for hotel rooms & events.

Welcome to another Thomas Wilson House guest room: The James Room

Like all overnight rooms in the Thomas Wilson House, this room was named after people responsible for shaping Montgomery County.

This room in particular was named for John James, who arrived to the area in 1711, and established a farm along Horsham Road. As a baptist minister, he was instrumental in the formation of the first church in the township in 1719. The church can still be seen on Bethlehem Pike across from Richardson Road.

The Griffen Room, another Thomas Wilson House overnight room named for people who had a part in shaping Montgomery County.

This room’s namesake is Thomas Griffen- A man who willed his estate to the township for the benefit of the Mongomery Square Friends Free School. Money from the sale of the land funded the school from 1761 until it’s closure in 1869.

As with all of the overnight rooms in our Thomas Wilson House, the Knapp Room had been named in honor of a handful of the people responsible for shaping Montgomery Township.

Knapp Farm, once a sprawling farm estate dating back to the earliest families of Montgomery Square, is now a historic farmhouse property preserved by the MTHS.

Many names you may recognize today such as John Roberts Jr, James Stoud & Henry Moore were responsible for the development & maintenance of the original land. By 1834 the estate landed in the hands of its current namesake- the Knapp family

Just 2 miles down the road, the is the perfect addition to the itineraries for history lovers & the curious alike 📚
