I post about skin & health topics but I haven’t posted much about my life as it pertains to my own health goals and challenges and what I do to keep it all in check. I’m 46 yrs. old and live with 2 chronic immune conditions which leave me having to be careful about how much energy I expend at once and from overtaxing my body with too much exercise and too little sleep as I could get away with in my 20s and early 30s. We can reach health goals in our own way and often have to change strategy over time. I’ve modified mine to suit how my body handles all sorts of stressors. We have little control over our external circumstances. But, we have control over the way we choose to live given where we are each at. What I’ve learned makes a difference for me is consistent & strategic exercise, hormone balance, prioritizing protein over carbs and getting minimum 7 hours sleep:night.

EXERCISE: I do short sessions but “make it count” by challenging my body in whatever I do. Working smarter but not longer.
HORMONES: There are many options for women to balance hormones in a way that works for her body. Bio identical progesterone cream has been a recent addition to my routine helping me tremendously. It’s not for everyone though - check with your doc if you are considering it.
DIET: I keeping my diet realistic yet balanced. I don’t deprive myself but if I’m going to indulge, I savor the moment and eat “clean” for the remainder of the day as I don’t enjoy physically feeling like crap but do love all kinds of food.
SLEEP: Having a 4 yr. old who requires little sleep puts me at a disadvantage for getting as much as I need but buckling down and getting to bed soon after she does is my best bet.
