What’s today? If you said RED FRIDAY, your 100% right! For those that don’t know what RED FRIDAY is, let me tell you! We wear RED on Fridays to show our support to our troops that are deployed!

As we go about our everyday lives, going to work, taking kids to sports, hanging out with friends and family.... Take time out your day to send up a prayer for our soldiers and their families, let them know we’ve got their back and they have not been forgotten while they are away fighting for the freedoms afforded us, and when presented with the opportunity to say Thank You to a Veteran -take it. WE DON’T KNOW THEM ALL BUT WE OWE THEM ALL!

Karaoke is back this week (Thursday 8/15), with Jay and friends.🎤🎶🎵🎼 So grab your friends, come on down and sing your hearts out.

This Thursday (8/1) Come and join us for a fun filled night of KARAOKE 🎤 featuring Rick Neiber as your host. So grab your friends and pick your favorite songs. Everybody’s a star ⭐️ and everybody has fun.

The Vincent F. Picard Post 234 is making an appeal for donations and wants to share an exciting initiative we have undertaken …. our Calendar Raffle. It will be held at Post 234 in September. The deadline for submissions is June 21st. Your donations of merchandise, money, tickets, or gift cards will allow us to help rebuild our kitchen. Our EIN # is 04-6189412.
It's said that the kitchen is “the heart of the home”, well it is the same here at the Post. The kitchen at the American Legion Post has been a hub for various community events, and with your help, we aim to enhance its facilities to better serve our veterans and our community. Events like our monthly veteran’s coffee hour and hosting community meals are the backbone of our organization and without a kitchen we are unable to provide support for those who need it most.
The closure of the kitchen has also had an impact on our function hall rentals. We have always had the option to utilize our kitchen as part of the hall rental which we can no longer offer as an option until our renovations are completed.
Your support is crucial to the success of our raffle, and we kindly request your participation through a donation that could be included as a prize in our calendar raffle. Your generosity will not only contribute to the success of our fundraising efforts but will also show your commitment to the local community.

KARAOKE this week with Rick! Thursday 6/20 (6-9PM) Come join us and bring your friends!

Veterans' Coffee Hour will be cancelled for June/July/August 2024. Slow times during Summer. Meetings will resume on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 10AM in September on 9/18.

Thursday night Karaoke on 6/19 will happen after all and not be cancelled. Rick Nieber will be the DJ that night and will run the show. Come out and enjoy some music!

Flag Day celebrates the symbolism and history of the American flag on June 14.

The U.S. has celebrated the adoption of the Stars and Stripes in a variety of ways when President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation establishing the June 14 as Flag Day in May 1916. These celebrations include flying the flag in front of residences, participating in parades, and holding other patriotic events. Several states and numerous cities had begun commemorating the day before to 1916.
In 1877 the first Flag Day was celebrated, 100 years after the Continental Congress adopted the flag. In 1949, President Harry Truman officially made Flag Day a day of national observance.

While its look has changed more than a few times over the years, the American flag has remained a symbol of freedom and justice. A look back at some of its milestones and reasons for its evolution.

What do the colors of the flag mean
The colors red, white and blue did not have meanings for the Stars and Stripes when it was adopted in 1777. However, when the Congress of the Confederation chose red, white and blue for the Great Seal of the United States in 1782, the meanings were listed as:
Red: for valor and hardness
White: for purity and innocence
Blue: for vigilance, perseverance and justice

How to properly display the American flag
Flag etiquette has long been established to ensure the flag is treated with dignity. In 1942 Congress created the U.S. Flag Code which provides guidelines for the display and care of the flag. Flags should always hang freely but never with the stars down, except as a distress signal.

Come join on Wednesday night for Open Mic 🎤 with Roger and Ted. Your chance to get up and sing or play a song 🎵or just enjoy an evening of good m music.
On Thursday night we have Karaoke with Patty and Jason always a great time, so bring your friends and join us.🎤🎶.
And we can't forget our weekly meat raffle every Saturday afternoon at 4:30. Get there a little early to get your tickets.

We also have hall rentals available for your function needs. (**Available during the Sundays we are closed)

It's Friday.... You know what that means..... GET YOUR RED ON!!!! (Remember Everyone Deployed - UNTIL THEY ALL COME HOME!) Add a splash of color to your outfit today and EVERY FRIDAY. Put on some RED, show your RESPECT and SUPPORT to our service members who sacrifice so much for our freedoms. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers TODAY and EVERYDAY! Make sure you also take every opportunity to THANK A VETERAN, they deserve our RESPECT and THANKS too for all they've done.

Memorial Day is a time to remember our fallen. Those that paid the ultimate price so we may live with the freedoms afforded us today. For many it’s a long weekend of bbqs and celebrating, but for far too many it’s a reflection on the lives of loved ones who never returned home. So please, enjoy yourself (that’s what they fought for), but don’t say “Happy” Memorial Day!
