A huge thank you to Hofstra Zarb School of Business for hosting our Academy of Finance Seniors & Juniors! It was an incredible opportunity for our students to immerse themselves in your world-class resources.

Seniors delved into the intricacies of financial markets at the Martin Greenberg Trading Room, honing their skills on the Bloomberg Terminal. Juniors explored the fascinating realm of behavioral science at the Behavioral Lab, gaining insights into eye tracking and VR headset utilization.

The experience culminated in a memorable business etiquette luncheon, where our students not only learned about professional conduct but also had the chance to network and build invaluable connections.

Incredible evening at the AOF/BHS/PE Leaders Volleyball Tournament for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. 30 Teams of students, corporate sponsors and staff participated in a fun-filled event to support a very worthy cause! Thank you ALL for your generous contributions!

Academy of Finance seniors were able to experience the pulse of financial technology and media firsthand with a transformative visit to Bloomberg Headquarters in the heart of NYC. Led by Academy of Finance Alum 2009, Joseph Alicata, students delved deeply into the realm of data analytics, Python differentiation, AI, FX (Foreign Exchange) electronic trading and the importance of embracing change. Students were able to engage with senior management executives gaining insights into Bloomberg Intelligence and corporate engagement strategies. From understanding the nuances of financial regulations to navigating the Bloomberg Terminal, this experiential journey equips students with invaluable knowledge and fosters a mindset of adaptability and innovation. Special thanks to the esteemed leaders and mentors for orchestrating an unforgettable opportunity for growth and learning

Congratulations to all 27 DECA students who competed at the “Ready Set Lead” Business Competition Wednesday, November 29th at St. Joseph's University in Patchogue. The competition included over 300 students from 14 school districts across Long Island and required students to present a project they prepared in advance to two of the 45 judges ranging from local business owners, sports executives, professors, and local politicians. Northport students Samantha DeNisco and Sienna McArdle placed second in the Retail Marketing event with their proposed marketing plan for The Colony Shop in Patchogue

Thank you to our Business Partners/Mentors for an incredible morning at our AOF Mentoring Breakfast. Multilevel grades of 250+ students and 28 Business Partners/Mentors had the opportunity to engage in conversations about all aspects of the workplace and nuances of the AOF program. It was a huge success as students learned from each other and their mentors through many hands on activities.

The industries present highlighted Marketing, Accounting, Financial Services, Banking, Sports Management, Real Estate, Entrepreneurship, Healthcare, Veterinary, Dental, Fashion, Media Production, Restaurants, Gyms and more…

Twelve of Northport High School’s Business Students attended the Digital Generation “Kick Off” Event on October 12th at Stony Brook University. Digital Generation is a blended learning course connecting eight Long Island school districts, including Northport-East Northport, Westhampton Beach, West Babylon, Lindenhurst, Deer Park, Bayshore, South Huntington and Riverhead. Students work together on weekly current events, as well as a collaborative project using online learning communities. The curriculum for the course dissects how social media has impacted relationships, enterprise, news, politics, privacy and the economy. Students begin to understand the importance of their digital footprint and online reputation, especially when applying to college or for employment.

The program was modeled after a Stony Brook course called “Digital Generation”, which is currently one of their most popular undergraduate courses and high school students enrolled in the course are eligible for three college credits through Stony Brook University. Students present their final projects at Stony Brook University in January and visit Google in NYC in April.

Such an INCREDIBLE State Farm Training Session for our NAF students with Cathi Phillips who provided her expertise in auto insurance. Seniors learned all aspects of auto coverage and discounts that hopefully will resonate with them forever. Thank you AGAIN for the generous treats and informative packets!
