Hello Barefoot Friends! We are looking for someone to come and do some light farm work twice a day for a long weekend in August. Dates are the 15-20th, but are subject to shift slightly (may be a day or so less). The chores would be roughly 15 minutes of work in the morning, and then 15 in the evening. No real farm experience necessary. Will compensate $$ and/or some of our fresh pork & beef.
Located in Salem Township.

It's a GIRL!

She was born to our matriarch, Amanda, who has only ever had bulls. This little heifer is going to be so loved!

Last weekend our sweet girl Prune went to live out her life on a beautiful and lush 40 acre farm. She made an instant friendship with a Zebu heifer named Zelda! We are so thrilled for her to have gone to such an amazing new home. 💜

Several dz. eggs are drying and then will make their way to The Shed this afternoon. 🤩

It's hatching time!

We found something exciting in our pasture this morning! It was a little bit of a surprise because we didn't expect this little one to be due until August! However, Farmer Keri had some suspicions last night after doing a herd check. This one's mama was showing signs of nearing labor.

Both mama cow and bull calf are available to move to a new farm!

Whether you call it a fart egg💨 or a fairy egg🧚‍♀️ it's always so fun to find these teeny little eggs. They usually happen with new layers, or when a hen resumes laying in a season. Often they don't have a yolk, but are still edible.

Barefoot Farms is thrilled to introduce Vinnie!! This floofy dude came to us from the coolest farm in Clare, Rooftop Landing Reindeer Farm! Seriously, check out their page, and then plan your own visit! They have ALL THE THINGS.

Vinnie is our very first Highland, and really is a dream bull. 😍 We can't wait for all the exciting things he is going to bring to the farm! 🥰

This little cutie is looking for greener pastures!

1 year old heifer, not registered. Tested non-chondo, A1A2, hetero polled. Comes from a herd free of Johne's and brucellosis. Sweet girl who loves to eat from the hand. She tolerates some love, but will be a great girl with the right amount of work.

Sire on site, dam just down the road.

My #1 tip for having a successful hobby farm is to have farm friends.

Tonight we did a temporary cow swap with a local friend. I have a stinker of a cow that just won't stay out of the pig feed. So she's going to live somewhere else until she's ready to calf.

Coming to stay at Barefoot Farms for the next few months is Hooligans Farm and Creamery Heaven. Heaven is a HighDex (½ Highland, ½ Dexter). She will stay here until she is old enough to be bred by our bull, Bergy. She will then be available to head to a new pasture.
