"Yucky" weather can actually be pretty great 😉 At our house, getting out keeps everyone (Mama included) from going stir-crazy.
How do you do it? Dress for it. In this case, jammies + jeans + rain pants/coat/boots. And yes, you can get rain pants for adults, too! (Though I think I had a long rain coat + tall rain boots that day.)
Need some motivation for getting out in the messy weather? Come join our HopJoy classes! Place-based learning and lots of play 😉

What they're saying about HopJoy:
"Thank you so much for all of your hard work and attention to detail you've displayed in HopJoy Forest School classes- we had so much fun ;)" - Allison V.
"HopJoy has been such a blessing this summer. It's getting my four-year-old outside, active and learning about the world around him. He's made friends, played in the mud and loves his teacher Miss Erin. I also love that there's a parent component to each class. We love HopJoy and highly recommend it to you too." ❤️🐞🌳 - Jen M.
"Thank you again for a great time [this summer]. We both loved it!" - Bridget A.
"We really enjoyed the classes! It was a nice mix of adventure and playtime. The backyard classes were a great chance to relax and chat with other parents while the kids played." - Jamie T.
"I am so grateful for Erin's passion in outdoor education. I have learned so much from being a part of her nature play group that later evolved into her forest school classes. As a former educator myself, I am impressed with her pedagogy. I have not only learned how to have more fun with my kids outside but also how to instill in them a love of nature, a sense of adventure as well as invaluable traits of resiliency and ingenuity. I know more about the critters and plants my kids discover, and I am more inspired than ever before to spend quality time with them and my husband outside. Thank you so much to Erin and Hop Joy!" - Agnes F.
" My two-year-old son struggled with adjusting to a typical preschool classroom. Watching his confidence grow with Ms. Erin and his classmates when given the opportunity to learn and explore outside was a completely different experience. It’s benefited him across settings and I am so grateful to see the ways he has grown and the joy he has derived from these experiences." - Beth M.
“We know there’s a robust relationship between mental health and nature exposure,” says Matthew Browning, founding director of the Virtual Reality and Nature Lab at Clemson University who studies the link between the natural world and human health. There’s also a relationship between long-term exposure to nature and reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and death from any cause, he says.
