Michael Toole For Select Board Interview

04/26/2023

On this Saturday, April 29th I am asking for your Vote for another 3 years on the Norton Select Board.

There have been a lot of negative things said about me by my opponent and her supporters. Unfortunately, I can’t stop that, however, I can tell you what my beliefs are and what the facts are and I hope that will earn your vote:

Belief: ”You are either changing or you are dying.” This drives me to improve not only myself but the town.

Fact: I authored and presented through a citizens petition a new appointing process for Fin Com. This one proposal has placed a target on my back this election evident on FB. However, I stand by this improvement proposal even though it did not pass. I would encourage you to check out the connection of the people leading the charge against me as they are all related to Norton Finance Committee either as active members, or spouses of active members, and even worse the individual that appointed these members.

Fact: Proposed and passed through town meeting the creation of a town DPW initiative, with the purpose to save voters money and expand services.

Belief: I believe in equality for all!

Fact: First Select Board Member to recognize Pride Month through 2 penned proclamations.

Fact: I will never use the LGBTQ platform for political gain, as the struggle is real for so many and including people I love.

Belief: I support and believe in our
Constitution and specifically the Bill of Rights.

Fact: Blocking someone because of harassment and safety is within my right, no matter how many videos and posts he/she makes post claiming something different. Always remember that both sides of an opinion have rights and protections under the US Constitution.

Fact: While I wish the entire town would show up to town meetings and vote. Not showing up to vote is just as equal to a right, as showing up to vote no matter what my opponent says or believes.

Belief: That we are all in service to someone….. God, family, friends, and town/country.

Fact: Played an important part in the settlement of a 30-year conservation case that attacked a resident and a small business.

Fact: Requested Federal funding through Town Manager, for wells 5a & 6a. Also hosted Rep Auchincloss and Rep Feeney for the new well in efforts to receive funds and improve town water.

Fact: Voiced opinion in favor of Cumberland Farms in the center of town to grow business and to support resident landowners.

Fact: Only Select Board member to attend all Wreaths Across America, Vetrans Memorial Day, and Vetrans Day events last three years … Including last year I was honored to be the key speaker at the Vetrans Day event where I spoke regarding veterans su***de.

Fact: I have spent over 160 hours over three years educating myself on the Town Processes and their Finances.

Fact: First Select Board member to hold office hours.

Fact: Since being elected I have been available to every resident through email, cell, text, and FB messenger.

Fact: I have directly helped and guided more than over 50 residents through different town processes.

Fact: I have never purposely or knowingly violated Open Meeting Law.

Fact: Took the lead and authored several proclamations of thanks for retiring employees.

Belief: I am fiscally conservative and socially liberal (moderate)

Fact: As a Select Board member I have been critical of Town Depts that I don't believe are spending taxpayers' money responsibly.

Belief: Serve the community the best way possible.

Fact: In 2016 I ran for State Rep. and lost. Since that time 6 years have passed and 3 races have passed and I have never pulled papers nor tried to run for higher office. A fact my opponent and her supporters keep forgetting to mention as they continue a smear campaign. However, if I did and was somehow successful I ask this question: Wouldnt this help Norton as I would be its representative on Beacon Hill?

My Opinion: I have been negatively called a politician….typically by other elected officials in town which, is ironic by itself. So, being dressed nicely at a public event or during a debate, or legally maneuvering through town bureaucracy to help residents achieve what they need is the definition. I admit I am a politician.

It has been an honor to serve you as one of your members of the Select Board, and I have done the work over the last three years. I am asking you to send me back for another three years with your vote.

Norton Select Board Candidate Debate 2023

04/06/2023

Last night my opponent and I were able to debate the issues for Norton Selectboard it will be available in the next couple of days.

04/05/2023

Recently, supporters of Sandra Ollerhead, Jack Conway, and Denise Luciano placed a picture of campaign signs aligned in such a way to allude that Justine Callanan, Paul Schleicher and Michael Toole do not support diversity and ultimately a vote for Callanan, Schleicher, and Toole would also equate to not supporting diversity within the Norton community. Today, we jointly denounce these actions and we are also asking our opposing candidates to denounce this post. We will not participate in any campaign antics from opposing supporters that promote or suggest hate of any group in town. Callanan for Norton School Committee Paul Schleicher Sr.

Norton - Improvements at Route 123, N. Worcester St and S. Worcester St 03/30/2023

Hello All-
Last night the DOT held the Project Engineering Public Hearing for the W Main St/N & S Worcester St DOT Light Project.

To everyone's surprise, we found out that the project had been bumped to 2027/2029 TIP (Transportation Improvement Project)

While the DOT presenters did state that the project could be bumped forward, this pushback from 2025 TIP was/is a shock to all and is very frustrating to residents and Town Officials.

Today, I spoke with Rep Howitt and Rep Barrows and drafted an email to our legislative team including Sen Feeney pointing out how these “improvement delays at this intersection only increase the public safety concerns”

The whole Select Board is committed to do everything in its power to shorten this delay and will work with our legislators to find a solution.

We will keep you updated as they become available.

Norton - Improvements at Route 123, N. Worcester St and S. Worcester St A live virtual design public hearing to present the design for the proposed intersection improvements at West Main Street (Route 123), North Worcester Street and South Worcester Street project.

Pictures:
1) DPW Article Town Meeting
2) Fire Training with Chief Simmons after Chartley Fire Station Opening
3) Hosting Congress Auchincloss for New Well Visits for funding

None of this can happen with out the previous Charter Commission, Chief Simmons, and Supt Founier and the guys at the Water Dept.
