I met her earlier this year and since then she has switched her maintenance from traditional palm rolling to retightening .

So far she has loved the transition.

Here are some benefits of reties vs trad maintenance

✨interlocked roots allow you to wash your locs more often at home.

✨scalp health : interlocked roots allow the weight of your locs to be evenly distributed. When locs get long they tend to become very heavy and pull down the root . Causing breakage and a host of issues.

✨aesthetics: reties last 6-8 weeks vs palm rolling traditional maintenance which lasts 1-2 weeks.

He met me in Dec 2022 . We had a consultation and scheduled his repair for January.

In January of 2023 he received a full loc repair and re-attachment .

I used his locs as “donor extentions “ and filled all spaces where a loc was missing with some of my handmade loc extensions to blend .

His locs were free forming for 4 year and he decided he wanted to clean them up .

After the repair,
He stuck to an every 4 week maintenance until we hit 1 year post loc repair .

After 1 year of consistency-

I put him on an every 8-12 week schedule because now we do crochet maintenance and it lasts him soo much longer.

His Locs are thriving and growing quicker than ever .

I met Merline last March .

We installed over 300 micro twists
She came faithfully every 4 weeks for her maintenance.

There was only one 12 week period where she wasn’t able to come often , however the guidelines I gave her on install day helped keep her microlocs healthy and strong untill we met again .

I knew her texture would loc quickly because it was course and tight enough for twists to stay secure .

She just came to me for her 1 year retie & said she’s still glad she made this decision .

That, was music to my ears 💕

Janay is in her second month of her loc journey.

She started with traditional coils so we are keeping her hair in low tension styles so her maintenance last at least 2 weeks before she needs to take it down to wash .

At this time, We are solely focused on maintaining w/ soft retwists to keep her new locs clean and build up free .

Here are some baby loc starter tips I like to share w/ clients -

✨Having a clean loc foundation is the best way to ensure your locs grow out healthy and strong.

✨Excess use of oils and additional products can actually throw off the scalps natural ph / attract lint /debris to the hair.

✨Try to Stick to one or two products that work best rather than having multiple loc products.

✨Starter locs grow when they are washed often. Don’t be scared to wash your hair when your scalp tells you it is time to wash.

✨I recommend clients wash their locs at least 1x a week.
