Midwest Simulations is a provider of mobile simulation systems. Coming soon to the Des Moines Area! Welcome to the official page of Midwest Simulations.
We proudly serve the Central Iowa area with motion simulation systems that allow users to enjoy the sensations of driving and flying from the safety and comfort of our custom built motion platforms. Our mobile platform allows us to come directly to your event or business, whether it is a birthday party, raceday tailgating, car show, or some friendly competition during an office get together. Our p
ricing is flexible and provides several benefits based on which level is selected. The current activities we offer are:
Time Trial Challenge: Take on the "Big Board" and climb to the top by laying down the best time of the day. Each event will have a designated track and car (chosen by either the customer or our staff) that drivers can take on to compete to be the top driver of the day. Customers can also use this for prizes if they would like. Virtual Track Day: Are you a dealer or other brand specific industry member? Take advantage of our Virtual Track Day activity. In this setup, we will restrict options to showcase your brand's lineup and let owners and drivers try out your products on the track without the risk and cost that comes with a real day at the track. Either package above is available as either single car or class based racing. We can craft events to the customer's preference and customize conditions to your liking. In the near future we will have the capability to handle multiple drivers at once. We will keep customers informed as to when this is available. In addition to driving, we will also soon offer the option to swap to a flight simulation system to experience the thrill of a premium, realistic flight simulator on our motion platform, custom designed by our staff and featuring parts designed by our friends at Ricmotech Simulation Racing Systems. Q&A:
Q: What is sim racing? A: As the name implies, simulated racing, or sim racing, is the activity of using advanced computer programs to simulate real world driving scenarios. These simulators utilize cutting edge technology to accurately depict real world physics, aerodynamics, and driving models to create an immersive experience. Q: So it is a game? A: Not exactly. On its own it may appear as any other computer game, but once you experience driving a simulator you will immediately understand that this is more than just a game. While most racing games have systems built in to compensate for a user’s mistakes and are built to provide an exciting experience that lacks in realism, Simulators are based on real world driving dynamics, factoring in conditions such as temperature, weight distribution, air pressure, and other real world variables to create a driving experience that can recreate the feeling that real drivers feel. Q: So it is realistic. Why can’t I just race a real car? A: Of course you can always do that, but the cost of owning and driving a real race car is astronomical compared to the sim experience. Even a few hours of track time can cost as much as a year of sim racing, and that doesn’t include the cost of fuel, tires, maintenance, and travel. Q: So, I get to drive a car with real world physics. That sounds like a bit of work, whereas arcade racers provide more excitement. Why would I want to do sim racing rather than arcade? A: Sim racing provides more than just a driving experience. The simulators used at our facility are the same systems used by real race teams around the globe for practice and testing. Several drivers in NASCAR, the Indy Racing League, and all levels of GT and Formula racing have either gotten their start or attribute the same programs used at MSC for helping them move up in their respective discipline. Our system can be used just as much for training as it can for entertainment purposes.
