Wave Makers and Plymouth Canton Optimist Club had the pleasure of helping out at Hospitality House Food Pantry. It was a pleasure assisting such a pleasant and worthwhile group of people.

A note to remember
Waiting in line to pay for groceries while maintaining a 6ft distance, this man cut in line. He didn't appear to notice what he’d done.
The person he skipped didn't say anything, just maintained the proper distance.
When it was time for the man to pay he reached in his back pocket and pulled out a small note pad. He’d forgotten his wallet.
He looked a bit disappointed and embarrassed. The person he skipped stepped up and told the cashier they’d take care of his groceries. (Which only consisted of Milk and Chocolate Chip Cookies.)
He was more than grateful. He kindly thanked them and off the man went.
Upon arrival to the register, the cashier asked: "He cut you off and you paid for his groceries.. Why??"
"They calmly replied with a smile: “I hope that if one day my Dad forgets his wallet, someone will step up and buy his Milk and Cookies"
With all the negativity going on in the world..I thought it would be nice to share this moment.
A little kindness goes a long way. Why not pay it forward?

Out going Michigan District Governor Pamela Batcho and her committee pulled off a wonderful 4th Quarter conference at the Crowne Plaza in Lansing.
From the delectable spread on Friday night in the hospitality suite to the full day and evening that addressed changes to the bylaws, welcoming our International President and many other dignitaries and other distinguished attendees . The installation was held for the governing bodies and an ambitious schedule of speakers, club stats.
The convention theme this quarter was Motown. In keeping with this there were two Motown trivia games one in the morning session and one in the evening session.
When we weren’t munching on an assortment of flavorful sandwich wraps for lunch there were filling dishes of chicken or pork for dinner.
Entertainment was provided by Notorious’s co founder Leslie Nelson, and keyboard by Fred Swanson, and vocalist Gregory Robinson.
When we weren’t hustling to Motown or Stopping in the Name of Love , we were rocking to other old school favorites.
From the Twist, a Soul Train Line and Conga Line.

On Saturday June 24th the city of Walled Lake is hosting their annual beach party. The Wave Makers Optimist Club will be there from 12-4. We will have rock painting for the kids while supplies last.
We will be collecting non perishable food items or cash to donate to Hospitality House Food Pantry. Anyone that donates will be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate for a free pizza. You will receive one ticket for each item donated. The more you give the better your odds are of winning.
Drawing will be held at 4:00 pm. Do not need to be present to win . You may check our FB page for winning the numbers if you do not return for the drawing.
Hope to see you there.

I am proud to announce that Ferzeen Kavarana managed to place 4th place in the Michigan District Optimist Oratorical contest. She made it through two previous rounds. She had much stiff competition from students much older. She handled herself with grace.
Congratulations to her.
