Re: ParkMobile App

We know some people have posted and reached out about problems with the ParkMobile app.

We talked to our rep from ParkMobile. They are going through some sort of update, and the app right now can’t process payments through online systems like Apple Pay, Google Pay, Paylpal, etc.

However, the app still works if you input your credit card into the app as a “payment method.”.

So you have a couple of options:

1. Add your credit card. If you do it once and add it as a payment method, the app will remember your card for future purposes.

2. Use the kiosk instead of the app. The kiosks are on a different system.

We apologize for the inconvenience. Hopefully, the app will be back to normal soon.

The Village of Nyack Board of Trustees is excited to announce that we have established a fund for a Sidewalk Incentive Program, which aims to enhance pedestrian safety, accessibility and the overall aesthetic of our beloved Village.

The Village Board believes that all citizens benefit when sidewalks are in good condition and the goal of the Program is to assist residential property owners in making needed repairs and/or replacements to public sidewalks.

Well-Maintained Sidewalks:

• Help alleviate motor vehicle congestion by making pedestrian travel more attractive.
• Facilitate travel by those who are unable to, or choose not, to drive a car.
• Contribute to the general upkeep of the Village of Nyack’s neighborhoods.
• Improve the quality of life for Village residents and visitors to the Village.
• Allow unimpeded travel for disabled residents and visitors, and comply with the regulations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Key Details of the Program:

Eligibility: Sidewalks on owner-occupied single-family or two-family residential properties are eligible for the Program. Already completed projects are not eligible for the Program.

Funding: The Village will reimburse a property owner up to a maximum of 50% of the property owner’s total project cost, capped at a maximum reimbursement amount of $1,500.00. For property owners who earned less than the County median household income in 2023 ($100,000) the funding maximum increases to $2,000.00. Village funding available is $25,000 for Fiscal Year 2024 – 2025, and funding priority factors are as follows:

✅ Condition and location of sidewalk. Poorer condition = higher priority.
✅ Planned Village infrastructure work that will tear up and replace sidewalks ( e.g., water mains, gas lines, etc.) within the next 3 years = lower priority.

📌Click here for more information and a link to the application for the Sidewalk Incentive Program 2024! https://www.nyack.gov/news/post/8008/
Paper copies are available at Village Hall.

Let’s Talk Lead!

Lead can enter drinking water from lead pipes or lead-based solder on water pipes. This can occur when pipes containing lead corrode, especially where the water is acidic or has low mineral content. The federal Lead and Copper Rule requires a public water system to test tap water from sites likely to have plumbing containing lead. If more than 10 percent of tap water tested exceed the lead action level of 0.015 milligrams per liter, then a public water system is required to notify residents and take steps to reduce lead levels in the public drinking water supply.

Lead can also leach into water inside the home from corroding brass or chrome-plated brass faucets and fixtures with lead solder, particularly when running hot water. Even if you get your water from a private well, there may still be a concern about lead in your water if the plumbing in your home contains lead solder or lead materials. Homes built before 1986 are more likely to have lead pipes, fixtures and solder.

Homes built after 1986 have “lead-free” plumbing, but still can contain trace amounts of lead that can dissolve in water. You may reduce lead in your water by only using cold water taps for drinking and food preparation and running water for at least 30 seconds or until the water is cold before use (see Steps to Reduce Lead in Drinking Water below).

💧Bottled water suppliers must routinely test their water supply for lead. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has established a maximum contaminant level of 0.005 mg/L for lead in bottled drinking water.

✅ Check your home for lead pipes - click to watch a video and send Nyack Water your information!

💧Water leaving our plant does not contain lead. Nyack Water does not produce lead in our drinking water

Nyack Water minimizes the risk of lead leaching from your homes pipes and faucets by using PH measures to neutralize acids that cause leaching. (When pH levels drop below 7.0, water becomes acidic which can cause lead to leach from pipes and faucets.)

Consumer water lines and fixtures are the risk.

Nyack Water is proactively investing in our infrastructure.

Business Owners:

Nyack Water Department is conducting an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated Lead Service Line Inventory. Part of the inventory is determining the material of the privately owned portion (customer-owned) of the water service line. If the material of your service line is unknow, it is possible that it could contain lead.

Please contact Nyack Water Department at 845-358-0548 ext. 4 to discuss scheduling an appointment for your business or home to be inspected and inventoried, as soon as possible.

FIREWORKS IN NYACK TONIGHT!!!
9PM
MEMORIAL PARK

On behalf of the Village of Nyack, I'm delighted to announce that that the Village will host its annual Fireworks show tonight (the 4th of July!) at Memorial Park.

It's a great night to come to Nyack after your afternoon barbeues parties. If you live in the Nyacks, you should walk to the Park (trust me on this). If not, be prepared to hunt for a parking space (no charge for any parking, but please park legally and don't block driveways!).

Even better, come early, have dinner in the Village, then walk down to stake your spot. And rather than bolt as soon as the fireworks are over, take a break and get a drink or ice cream to wait out the traffic jams leaving the village.

It should be a great night. We will have music from DJ Marly Marl coming from the Gazebo by the waterfront, food trucks along Piermont Avenue on the west side of the Upper Lawn of Memorial Park, and some family fun. The playground, basketball court, skate park, and splash pad will all be open.

And the fireworks will be lit off by an offshore barge, courtesy of North River Shipyard, our sponsor for the event. So we will have a larger viewing area than normal. We will also be able to open more of the waterfront for viewing, which is really good because so much of the lawn is closed off for reseeding (and PLEASE DON'T GO ON IT!!!!).

I've attached a map of the available seating areas, circling the "GREEN" areas where you can watch, and the "RED" area that's totally OFF-LIMITS because of the lawn reseeding.

Here's where you can set up to watch:

* Memorial Park Upper Lawn.

* Memorial Park Lower Lawn, but only in the southwest corner (south of the water park).

* Memorial Park paved areas to the north of the basketball court and on the eastern edge along the water.

*Memorial Park viewing platform on the southeastern edge.

* The Marina parking lot (most of it), including the outcropping along the eastern edge.

Come join us! It should be a good show!

conditions are at an increased risk. Homes without air conditioning
