CONGRATULATIONS to our CTE students who earned industry-recognized certification this school year! OTHS CTE Department certified 195 students in Adobe Photoshop, JavaScript, Python Level 1, Digital Marketing, Intuit Bookkeeping, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, Personal Financial Responsiblity, Red Cross Childcare, and Welding Technician!! This certification provides students with proof of the skills they have mastered throughout the school year. BIG shoutout to our hard-working and dedicated CTE teachers who prepared their students to pass their respective certifications! πππ
Mr. Vosse's Construction 2 - Advanced Building Trades students worked on standing up the remaiing walls of their first structure this week. Students focused their efforts on techniques making sure the walls were properly built, square, and plumb. π They also found out the hard way that Mother Nature can drastically impact the schedule of a construction site! β

Panther Beat Broadcast students covered OTHS Prom on Saturday and got an exclusive interview with the newly crowned Prom Monarch, Lex White.
The rain may be slowing down progress a bit, but Construction 2 - Advanced Building Trades students are still at it! π They have now successfully built their first exterior wall for the tiny house project!
Students in Mr. Spencer's Small Engine Repair class are applying their new troubleshooting skills to diagnose engine problems. Students disassemble and reassemble engines to working order to gain a working knowledge about all of the engine components.
CONGRATULATIONS to Danae Tyus, the 2024 recipient of the Career & Technical Education Department Award of Excellence! Danae has continued to grow a passionate interest in the business world during the past three years at OTHS. This past Fall, she was awarded the IL State Champion for Microsoft Office Specialist in Excel and has been invited to the National Competition this summer. Danae has shown her true leadership abilities as an officer and member of Future Business Leaders of America. She has selflessly led this yearβs membership of 50+ students to an outstanding representation at the Illinois State FBLA Conference. She serves as the OβFallon FBLA Chapter President, the Southwestern Area FBLA President, and an Illinois State FBLA Vice-President. Congratulations, Danae!!
π CTE Tiny House Project Update! π This week in Mr. Vosse's Construction 2 - Advanced Building Trades class, students framed the rough opening for a window, cut cripple studs to support the window in a wall, and ensured walls were square.
Construction 2 - Advanced Building Trades students are utilizing the new CTE Tiny House Pavilion to frame the floor for their first structure this week!
Mr. Vosse's Construction 2 - Advanced Building Trades students stand up the walls for their tiny house models and use the "speed square" to ensure the walls are square and plumb. Students are mastering the technique of wall framing for windows and doors using local building codes and methods. Everyone is excited to start on the tiny house later this month!
Congratulations to OTHS Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) for their amazing showing at the 75th Annual Illinois Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference in Springfield, Illinois last week! Fifty-four OTHS FBLA members attended the Conference with over 1800 students, advisors, and guests from across the State. Students attended leadership workshops, participated in competitive events, and took part in social activities.
OTHS students participated in 40 competitive events, earning Top 10 status in 27 of those events. Fourteen OTHS students competing in eleven different events qualified for the National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida, this summer! The OβFallon Chapter was also awarded the top fundraiser for March of Dimes in the State.

HUGE shoutout to our OTHS Guidance Department who organized the 2024 Skilled Trades Fair for our students! This provided students the opportunity to meet with a variety of professionals from numerous trades during Advisories today. What a GREAT opportunity for our students to learn what it takes to pursue a career in the skilled trades industry!
Students in Mrs. Haislar's Accounting class celebrated National Oreo Cookie Day yesterday by researching corporate financial and ownership data of Oreo. Class ended with an Oreo treat! π
Mrs. Mayberry's Marketing I students dove into the world of brand collaboration by designing their own Stanley Quenchers in partnership with another iconic brand. From blending colors to crafting designs, they explored the power of brand synergy inspired by Stanley's recent collaboration with Starbucks.
EXCITING things are happening for OTHS CTE!! We can't wait to watch our students use this new space to build our first tiny house!

OTHS will be hosting their 2024 Skilled Trades Fair on March 13th, 2024 during advisory periods. The OTHS Skilled Trades Fair is our students gateway to discovering a world of opportunities in the trades industry. Students are invited to come to the Panther Dome that day to learn more about multiple trades career fields and how to get involved immediately after high school. Always a great option for students who have an interest in jumping into the skilled trades career field.

Students in our Manufacturing Academy are getting hands-on practice to improve their skills in TIG, Stick, and MIG welding.
Mr. Vosse's Engineering Design - CAD 2 students have been putting their skills to work on their "Introductory House Project" for the first few weeks of the semester.
OTHS students from Accounting 1, Honors Accounting 1, and Accounting 2 classes attended the SIU-Carbondale Accounting Challenge this past Friday. Students participated in academic and team-building competitions and heard from a panel of professionals and college students regarding internship experiences.
CONGRATULATIONS to the following OTHS students who came home with scholarships: Accounting 1 - Andrew Robey (1st place), Brennen Smith (2nd place), and Nathaly Villagran (3rd place); Accounting 2 - Lex White (2nd place).
HUGE shoutout and congratulations to our amazing Panther Beat Broadcast students and Mrs. Kristin Strubhart for a successful weekend of live streaming all of the games from the Bank of O'Fallon Shootout to nearly 2000 viewers! Students worked as producers, directors, technical directors, camera operators, scoreboard, play-by-play commentary, and sideline reporting. They also served as photographers, graphic designers, and digital media content creators to produce social media posts. AWESOME JOB!! π
