The City is now accepting nominations for an evergreen tree for the 2024 holiday display in Drexel Town Square!
Residents can nominate a tree by completing the City Holiday Tree Nomination Form on our website: www.ocwi.org/forestry. Be sure to include digital photos showing all sides of the tree.
Both businesses and private property owners in Oak Creek are encouraged to submit nominations as soon as possible!
Tree Requirements:
โข 20 to 35 feet tall evergreen (or the top portion of a taller tree)
โข Free from utility lines or other safety concerns
โข Accessible by large equipment
โข Uniformly branched all around and fully formed
โข Single stem without multiple central leaders
โข Healthy, with no deadwood or discolored needles
The approximate harvest time is mid to late November. The city Forestry staff will select the trees. For questions, contact Spencer Szuta, Forestry Foreman, at 414-570-5685.

REMINDER: The next branch pickup BEGINS on Tuesday, September 3.
To guarantee that your branches are picked up, you must have them at the roadside by 6:45 a.m. on September 3. Once crews have passed through your neighborhood, they will not be back until the next scheduled pickup, which begins on Friday, November 1.
Branches are to be stacked neatly, with the cut ends facing the road. Roots should be separate from the brush pile. The DPW WILL NOT pick up brush that is the result of a contractor doing work on your property. It is their responsibility to dispose of the brush properly.
Branches may also be brought to the recycling yard at 720 W. Puetz Road during normal hours of operation.

๐งRoad Construction Alert: S. Nicholson Rd.๐ง
Starting September 5, construction will begin on S. Nicholson Road, from E. Puetz Road to E. Ryan Road, as we work to replace the pavement. The project will include removing the old pavement and putting down new asphalt, adding gravel shoulders, and new road markings.
๐ซ No Parking will be enforced during construction, and through traffic will be prohibited. However, access to residences will remain available.

๐ง WIS 100 Construction Update: Moving to Stage 2 ๐ง
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will begin Stage 2 of the WIS 100 construction project (Shepard Ave to WIS 32) this September, with completion expected by October 2024.
Traffic Impact: WIS 100 will be closed in both directions from September 3 - October 3. A detour will be posted via 6 Mile Road (WIS 38/County G/WIS 31/WIS 32). Local access to homes and businesses will remain open.
Stage 2 Work Includes:
โข Resurfacing 4.5 miles of pavement
โข Upgrading traffic signals with modern monotube poles
โข Resealing the westbound bridge deck over the Union Pacific Railroad

The City of Oak Creek's government offices, including City Hall and Library, will be closed on Monday, September 2, 2024, for the Labor Day holiday.
Emergency services will continue.
All City offices will return to their normal business hours on Tuesday, September 3.
Just a reminder . . . for Labor Day week, there is an adjusted trash and recycling pickup schedule; Collection will be one day later than normal until the end of the week
