🥇 Our sister company, Dedicated Logistics Services (DLS), is proud to have a two-time blue ribbon champion at the Minnesota State Fair! Madeline’s sweet victory includes first place in both knitting and cookies.

Madeline learned to knit as a child in elementary school, and this skill has stayed with her ever since. Her time working at a yarn company only deepened her passion, turning knitting into a regular and much-loved part of her life, especially in recent years. Most of what Madeline makes gets worn immediately, so it’s never quite in ‘fair condition.’ But she recently finished a shawl in May, just in time for the warmer weather, so it hadn’t been worn yet. It was the only piece she had that was in mint condition, so Madeline decided to give it a shot at the fair.

When it comes to the chocolate chip cookies, Madeline’s recipe is her dad’s, and it’s a winner—literally, it’s won blue ribbons back in her home state of Washington. Madeline’s housemate has been entering chocolate chip cookie contests with a group of friends for the past few years in an effort to get the judging scorecard. It’s one of the more competitive categories, so you only get the scorecard if you crack the top 25. She recruited Madeline to join the cause! Madeline knew she had a good recipe but didn’t expect to place first out of 198 entries.

Madeline never expected to place in either category, let alone win them both! The results went online Thursday morning, but she wanted to wait and see for herself. Her DLI colleagues checked the results and managed to keep a straight face all day, even making her leave the room when they looked! The suspense made the victory even sweeter when Madeline finally saw her winning blue ribbons!

Minnesota Monthly food critic Jason DeRusha, a staple in the Twin Cities food scene, sponsored this year’s State Fair chocolate chip cookie contest. Here he is posing with Madeline celebrating her sweet success!

🛣️ DLI is gearing up for the 2024 International Roadcheck!

The national event takes place May 14 through the 16th and this year’s focus is on tractor protection systems and controlled substance & alcohol possession. DOT officers will be checking for the presence of alcohol or controlled substances as well conducting a thorough inspection of the tractor protection system components.

A few key reminders for drivers include:
• Be vigilant about conducting proper pre and post trip inspections.
• Listen and/or feel for any leaking air at the gladhand couplers on the trailer.
• Listen and/or feel for leaks from both air lines.
• Properly test all valves
- The tractor protection valve
- Trailer supply valve
- Anti-bleed back valve
• Do not possess, use or be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance while on duty and before coming on duty.

By working together, we can keep our drivers and the motoring public safe!
