Q&A with Jossycar Bravo 😍❤️.

Q: Jossycar, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today?

A: I’m a Venezuelan girl, and since the age of 15 years old, my brows were a problem. I STILL don’t have enough hair on them - so, I started applying makeup without any experience. Within a year, I felt like a pro doing brows. In 2017 I moved to Miami, FL USA to start working in different areas and one day, I just woke up with the idea of doing a microblading course. Now I can say it has been the best decision I have ever made. After that course, I did a skincare licensing and lash lift course. Then I started working in beauty. Now I do most services, such as brow shaping and tint, brow lamination, lash lift, microblading and microshading.

Q: Please tell us about Jossy Beauty Studio.

A: Jossy beauty studio as does everything with brows and lashes. We also offer courses in all that we do, and I’m so proud how fast we are growing, how much people love our technique treatments and the results we provide. What sets me apart from others? I always do my work with passion and let my clients choose and feel comfortable with what I do. Offering always the best for them and not just taking their money out of pocket.

Q: If someone was just starting out, what would you recommend them start with?

A: I recommend in beauty, to start working from home while you make your clients. This way, you can avoid wasting money on rent. Then you can move up to a suite to improve and grow.

Maybe you’re a salon assistant right now, or a commissioned stylist - or maybe you’re just starting out in the industry. If you find yourself wondering “Okay. When is that opportune moment for me to go out on my own?” we’re here to help you figure it out 🙌🏻🙏🏻.

1. Are you booked consistently? Having a consistent clientele is the key factor for knowing it’s time to break free and open your own salon suite. This doesn’t mean that your books have to be booked out for months in advance (though, that would be ideal), but we mean that you aren’t just taking on a bunch of new clients, or have clients that aren’t coming back. Making sure you’re retaining your clients and offering your best service is important - and helps determine whether you have a healthy clientele ready to fill your suite, or are still growing your supporting clientele.

2. Do you know how much your expenses are? When you go into business on your own, there ARE some expenses you want to make sure you are considering on top of your base rent. Product, decor, booking services, etc. If you are considering opening your own suite, we encourage you to grab a notepad and start doing the math to account for expenses properly. For example, let’s say Client Jill comes into your salon and spends $200 on her service. You used 2 ozs of color, 1 scoop of lightener and some toner, equaling $15 in product expense. Subtract your expenses from your earnings to see how much money you are ACTUALLY making compared to what you see coming in. You are going to want to keep track of weekly expenses to ensure that salon suite rental is what’s right for you.
