On Thursday, May 9, 2024, the Kazan McClain Partners’ Foundation was honored at Lend a Hand Foundation’s 25th Anniversary Annual Gala at the Scottish Rite Center in Oakland. Partner Gordon Greenwood received “Trailblazer of the Year” award for spearheading support of LAH’s Stay in School Program & Joy of Giving Initiative.

On Friday, May 3, 2024, Kazan Law hosted a luncheon for the Local 16 Heat & Frost Insulators Retirees Club. The Kazan Firm has hosted this annual luncheon for the past 30 years. When HS Lordships restaurant in Berkeley closed in 2018, the luncheon was moved to the Shibe Park Tavern at the Oakland Athletics’ stadium. It’s a venue everyone really enjoys!

On May 14, 2024, Kazan Law supported the Alameda County Law Day Committee’s Annual Luncheon -- our first in-person event since 2019 – to congratulate Alameda County high school mock trial teams. Also in attendance were Alameda County Superior Court Judges; Berkeley Law Foundation’s Broussard-Phoenix fellows (2023-24); local attorneys; and special guest Attorney General Rob Bonta who gave an inspiring “Voices of Democracy” speech to the 50+ students in attendance.

The Kazan McClain Partners’ Foundation proudly funded a scholarship (in conjunction with Women Lawyers of Alameda County), which was awarded to Basira Qazizada, an Afghan woman and judge who became a refugee when the Taliban retook control of her home in Afghanistan. Basira completed her LLM at UC Berkeley School of Law and the scholarship will help fund her while she is studying for the California Bar Examination.”

The Kazan McClain Partners’ Foundation was a founding donor for the Mosaic Project since 2000, and has been supporting the organization annually every year since. This year the Foundation was listed as a “Peace Champion” at its annual event.
