How empathetic are you? A soul that carries empathy is a soul that has survived enormous pain. Empathy is a survival mechanism that allows you to understand what someone else might be thinking or feeling in a given situation. It is an essential part of human experience.

Empathetic people value others’ feelings enough to let them explain themselves, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Empathy enables us to build social connections. Feeling connected to others is hugely important for our optimal wellbeing. It helps us to feel valued, loved, and cared for.

Screams, A Punch, Shattering Glass
The shattering of her bones and her heart, third class
It’s not normal for a woman to be unable to breathe
And yet her husband’s anger continues to seethe
Displaced onto her cheeks, her eyes, her being, alas

Alas they watch as he cuts bruises into her skin
Stepping away, looking away, because they aren’t kin
“He must know what he is doing” they say
Through their demeanor, indifference they convey
As if being a woman is a sin

A sin she must be punished for
Society mocks women who speak up evermore
She's joking, looking for attention surely
She must be put in her place, she's acting immaturely
How much longer will society continue to ignore.-Mahika Bagri

Supurna, after surviving trafficking, lost her basic education while caring for her terminally ill mother in dire conditions. Selling their land for treatment left her mentally broken, contemplating self-harm. Fortunately, with the support of our donors Lead In Heels partnered with GGBK who offered vital psychological and emotional support, aiding her recovery. Supurna received education and developed skills, including sewing, to rebuild her life. Lead In Heels provided her with a sewing machine, granting economic independence. Today, she leads the Bandhanmukti Survivors collective, empowering others.
A special thank you goes to Pina Patel and Jagdish Patel for their crucial support by providing sewing machines to GGBK and one was given to her paving the way for Supurna's economic independence and resilience. She learnt stitching and now is able to stitch clothes of the neighborhood people and earns her livelihood. Today she works hard and is motivated to change her life for the good.
