Join us as we share the sacred and healing teachings of Tonantzin-Guadalupe and their significance for us almost 500 years after her apparitions. Maestra Patricia Chicueyi Coatl will speak on many elements of this great history, contextualized in the era of the great pandemia of the early years of the colonization of MesoAmerica. Maestra will share about the Nican Mopohua, the apparitions, the young Nahuatl scholars, and the healing words and actions that Tonantzin has passed on to us through them. Gather together as we review: Who is Tonantzin-Guadalupe? Why should we hear from her even if we don’t believe in religion? Why is Tonantzin a strong revolutionary and decolonial figure for us?
In the midst of a very dangerous pandemic “so great and universal” that “many have died and many more continue to die” a group of Nahuatl scholars devoted themselves to the protection of Indigenous knowledge. They gathered to learn about the Matiliztli, the sacred knowledge that Tonantzin brought to all of them, to all her beloved people, those who have suffered so much, to help them free themselves from the many oppressions by reclaiming their true identity, by reclaiming their human dignity.

Birthing People Behind Bars: Exposing Forced Sterilizations in State Prisons
Thursday April 15 @ 6-8.15pm | RSVP here: https://pretermbirthca.ucsf.edu/events/birthing-people-behind-bars-exposing-forced-sterilizations-state-prisons?mc_cid=c38431cba4&mc_eid=a75b703b98
Please join Provost Chinyere Oparah for a film screening and panel discussion of Belly of the Beast, Thursday April 15, 2021, 6-8.15pm. Panelists include Kelli Dillon who is a survivor of state sponsored reproductive violence and featured in the film. Free and open to the public.
About the Film: When a courageous young woman and a radical lawyer discover a pattern of illegal sterilizations in California’s women’s prisons, they wage a near-impossible battle against the Department of Corrections. With a growing team of investigators inside prison working with colleagues on the outside, they uncover a series of statewide crimes - from inadequate health care to sexual assault to coercive sterilizations - primarily targeting women of color. This shocking legal drama captured over 7-years features extraordinary access and intimate accounts from currently and formerly incarcerated people, demanding attention to a shameful and ongoing legacy of eugenics and reproductive injustice in the United States.

Unfinished: Actualizing an Intersectional Antiracist Future
April 8th and 9th
by the Center for Transformative Action at Mills College.
Inspired by Amanda Gormon's inauguration quote, “...somehow we’ve weathered and witnessed a nation that isn’t broken but simply unfinished", How can we seize this moment of national reckoning to turn our collective vision into an equitable and just world for all people? What must change in order for us to achieve inclusion? Join us as we move from reimagining to actualizing the future of our wildest dreams.
This conference will feature 60+ thought leaders that are evolving and disrupting systems in the pursuit of profound change in our nation. The lineup is amazing!! (Bestselling author of The Sum of Us, Heather McGhee will be speaking about how racism hurts all of us.), Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work who will discuss what it takes to achieve true inclusion in business and beyond, and Favianna Rodriguez, Artist/Organizer/Social Justice Activist, will highlight the power of culture and joy. Additional select speakers include Ashara Ekundayo, Jane Garcia, Veronika Scott, Bahiyah Robinson, Kai Nortey, Deanna Van Buren, Regina Davis, Carolyn Johnson, and more.
What's in this for you? You will be inspired by purpose-driven entrepreneurs, non-profit leaders, corporate leaders, activists, authors, artists, and more that are changing lives and narratives. You will also leave with tangible ideas and tools for ways you can transform society to be more equitable.
