Friendly Reminder to All our Neighbors and Guests -

While this time of year is typically a period of coming together and celebrating the holidays, it is also unfortunately, a time to be more aware of your surroundings and to be on guard as crime in our neighborhood is a persistent threat — even more so at this time of year.

In less than two months, our business has experienced three crime related incidents, one of which involved burglary and one other occurring today, a robbery directly in front of the restaurant, to our beloved (senior) mother. Fortunately, no one was physically harmed in any of the incidents, but these take a tremendous hit on us, our family (literal and employees) financially, mentally, and emotionally, which often takes much longer to heal from. Some have said to us it is a "rite of passage" to experience this in Oakland, however, it does not soothe the tireless efforts we genuinely put in to continue serving the community after Sukho Thai's baton was passed on to us. Today's incident just hit us especially hard. As many of you may be aware, we recently reopened after being closed for about a year to upgrade the back of house and do some much-needed housekeeping to modernize and create efficiencies, all while facing constant obstacles between the County and City that severely delayed our recent reopening. Despite all this, we would be remiss if we did not acknowledge and gratefully thank OPD for their responsiveness, diplomacy, and courteousness during each unfortunate visit — thanks OPD!

That said, and we'll say it again, we are still so thrilled to have reopened and to see so many new faces and especially our neighborhood family continue to visit and support us. It is truly our wish that you all stay mindful of your surroundings, your person, family, and neighbors.
