I’m excited to announce my website refresh!!

A couple weeks ago, I updated to Squarespace 7.1 and completely redesigned my whole site. I added relevant sections to include not only lettering and illustration, but surface pattern design, teaching and character portraits.

I hope it is easier to navigate, reflects my current offerings, and presents my latest work in a professional and aesthetically pleasing way. Let me know what you think!

Getting back to my lettering roots with this lyric from one of my favorite songs off her new album; Florida!!! Featuring Florence Welch.

I just had to join Kitty’s .illustration Summer Strawberry girl DTIYS with even more strawberries today. Honestly I had so much fun drawing her!

Art has been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember. My journey began with studying painting and drawing in college, followed by further education in graphic design. Along the way, I discovered a passion for lettering and illustration, which has significantly shaped my creative path.

I specialize in creating surface pattern designs, illustrations, and lettering using Procreate and Adobe Illustrator. Recently, I’ve rekindled my love for traditional art forms, returning to painting and drawing on canvas and in my sketchbook. This transition feels like a full-circle moment, allowing me to reconnect with my visual vocabulary through analog mark-making.

Sharing my art with the world brings me immense joy, and I find fulfillment in touching others’ lives through my work. I am particularly interested in expanding my creative projects to include licensing more art for products and home decor, as well as creating illustrations for magazines and books. I also enjoy teaching and look forward to offering more classes and workshops soon, along with launching a membership program. My goal is to build a supportive creative community where artists can learn from each other.

Balancing my artistic career with family life is a source of gratitude for me. My home office is my creative hub during the day, and by 3 PM, I switch to parenting mode as my son returns from school. Evenings are dedicated to homework, dinner, and family time.

I am deeply thankful for the support of my family, who embrace my creative endeavors and tolerate the occasional mess that comes with them. Their encouragement is invaluable, and I am profoundly grateful for their love and support. This is one of my favorite photos of us from 2018.

🌿I encourage you to use analog tools, but yes, you can draw digitally too. Whatever feels right. Focus on joy and creativity, and not the end result. I’m even planning to do a bit of painting for this one. I just got some gouache paints, and we can’t let them go to waste now, can we?!

I am currently working on a pattern collection, but I will be doing as many of these as I can throughout the month. Last August when I did these I tried to keep the artwork to 30 mins at a time which was very manageable. Hope this gives you some ideas to work with.

Here’s another pattern from my mini collection (which may actually turn into a full collection)!! Do you enjoy seeing the pattern bigger or smaller?

I finished this pattern for my collection over the weekend! I used a brand new workflow to create this one, as some of you may know from my last post. I painted my motifs with ink, brought them into Adobe Illustrator, colored them, added texture, drew the highlight elements with the blob brush and shape builder tool, and then finally created the repeat.

I am pretty happy with how it turned out! I really wanted to keep the organic textures from the ink and paintbrush, but also add the kind of textures I normally add into my work when I work in Procreate, so it’s consistent. It’s definitely not a quick process, but I love the end result. How did I do?! Which product do you like it on most?!

Painting some motifs with India ink to bring into for coloring and pattern making! I’ll be sharing more of the process for this pattern as I go along. It’s been a nice change of workflow to go out on nature walks and take photos of flowers and plants, and paint analog!
