This is how I wanted to spend my weekend. But the first week of middle school continued to kick my butt with additional activities! It’s so fun to see Zoe figuring out what she wants to do but this mama is tired of being a chauffeur! 😂

One of my favorite rooms to transform is a playroom. It’s a space bursting with joy and color! The kids’ playroom on the top floor of our Pacific Heights project radiates exuberance. Custom millwork, including shelving and desks beneath each of the three windows, painted in Benjamin Moore’s Waterloo, brings a youthful and energetic vibe to the space.

The bright blue hue beautifully complements the ceiling’s multicolored wallpaper, creating an atmosphere that practically screams creativity. Designing these spaces goes beyond just aesthetics—it’s about crafting a lively and functional sanctuary where kids can joyfully explore and let their imaginations run wild!

Today is my B I R T H D A Y ! !

I’m firmly in the middle of my life and trying to find the joy in every bit of it (these gray hairs are mad disrespectful though 😂). I’m back home in GA with a newly completed house (that I can’t wait to share) and just happy to be surrounded and celebrated by my friends and family! 😍😍

Fun fact/Therapy analysis: Because I have a twin and have always had to share my birthday celebration as a child, I’ve really embraced the idea of month-long celebrations as an adult. The month of July was full of glamorous travel that I’ll be sharing soon and lots of work things so today will be relatively low key (for me 😜).

Here’s to a wonderful next year!

Take me back! Starting this Monday reminiscing about the fabulous trip to in Chicago. We had great weather, a wonderful group, and amazing showrooms (…I may have already purchased something that I saw on the tour for a client!!)

Excited for the opportunity to be and to learn more about this wonderful space. Plus I got to go home for a short time! Definitely plan to add this to my travel itinerary when I’m looking for inspiration.

I’ve been pretty MIA on this feed lately so thought it would be a good time to reintroduce myself and get back into the groove during my birthday month (Cuz I’m not gonna know how to act this month 😂).

I’m Kelly Finley, the HBIC of Joy Street. Joy Street Design is a residential and commercial interior design studio based in Oakland, California with a second office in Atlanta, Georgia. We also have a nonprofit, Joy Street Initiative, that focuses on renovating women’s shelters.

Most importantly, I have a team of diverse, wildly creative, dynamic woman who keep the show running. There is no way I could do this without them and we’ll be doing introductions over the next few weeks. (If you had signed up for our newsletter, you’d already know them all 😂).

We absolutely adore what we do, but hey, we don't take ourselves too seriously! 😄 Here's the scoop: (1) Forget about those all-white kitchens – we're not buying what those people are selling! (2) We firmly believe that almost any color can rock the neutral game. Who says neutral has to be boring? Not us! And (3) drumroll, please...
