There's still time to register for the "100 Change Makers" Environmental Leadership Cohort, starting tonight! Attend four free presentations at the Depot on Wednesday evenings from Sept 18 - Oct 9.
The Depot is partnering with Oakland Recycles to host the Fall cohort of the 100 Change Makers Program. Join us to take a deep dive into the intersection of waste and sustainability! The goal of the 100 Change Makers Program is to identify change makers in Oakland who will educate our community about how the choices we make related to managing waste impact the environment.
This free, month-long environmental leadership program teaches participants about the connection between waste and climate change and clarifies questions about how to properly recycle and compost. We would love for you to be part of this change!
We invite Oakland residents and businesses to join a four-week series of presentations and discussions in person at The East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse (4695 Telegraph, Oakland), Wednesdays 9/18, 9/25, 10/2, and 10/9 from 5:30-6:30pm.
Weekly topics include:
Week 1: Identifying Your Why/Introduction to Waste Reduction Strategies
Week 2: Anatomy of a Material Recovery Facility / Anatomy of a Compost Pile
Week 3: The Lifecycle of a Water Bottle / Climate Change and You
Week 4: Environmental Leadership / Plan an Action Day
Participants are also asked to complete a weekly engagement task following the in-person meeting: a discussion prompt to share within your community through conversation or by posting on social media.
The capstone to the 100 Change Makers Program is the Action Day. We invite participants to table with Oakland Recycles at an upcoming event: Oakland Dia de los Mu***os Festival on Sunday, 11/3. Alternatively, participants may plan their own event to share what they learned.
