Kwanzaa is an annual celebration of African American culture, that is held from December 26th to January 1st. It is based on harvest festival traditions from various parts of Africa and was first celebrated in 1966 and created by Maulana Karenga as a holiday to " give Blacks an opportunity to celebrate themselves and their history and to support a cultural revolution of identity, purpose, and direction".
Kwanzaa's celebratory symbols include a mat (Mkeka) on which other symbols are placed: a Kinara (candle holder for seven candlesticks), Seven Candles to represent the seven principles, corn for harvest, a unity cup for commemorating and giving thanks to our Ancestors, and gifts. All of this represents values and concepts reflective of African culture and contribution to community building.
Today is the first day of Kwanzaa and the principle is Umoja, which means Unity. The concept is dedicated to the togetherness of the family, and the community. Every one of us in our community is responsible for one another and only by working together can we will achieve the greatest things. Let us reflect today on our communities, big and small, and the vital parts we play

It’s so hard to imagine life without some form of movement. The array of choices seem endless to me!
Some favorite go tops of mine are: the gym (of course! Lol) hiking, biking, skating, yoga, & playing fitness games on my Oculus.
My body is happiest when in motion. It’s like food for my soul. A great workout energies me and grounds me.

I can’t stress enough how important it is to protect your peace!
Not to say life is all about smelling the roses. You definitely need people@to challenge you and help you see your blind spots!
But there’s a difference between challenge for growth and change, & challenge for the sake of tension.

Crushed Garlic Butter Steak Bites makes about 4 servings
Ingredients:
1 Tbsp avocado oil, or olive oil
6 cloves fresh garlic, peeled and crushed
1 lb. sirloin steak cut into bite size pieces
sea salt, to taste
2 Tbsps clarified butter or ghee
1 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley
1 Tbsp chopped chives
Instructions:
Heat your oil in a large heavy skillet over medium high heat.
Add in crushed garlic cloves and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.
Add in steak bites and sear each side until slightly brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
Once steak bites are done to your liking, reduce the heat and add in the butter/ghee. Stir to combine until butter is melted and nicely coats the steak. Season with sea salt and pepper to your taste if desired.
Garnish with chopped parsley and chives.

I can absolutely float in either direction depending on the day and activity but there’s something electric about going after a good workout with a group of dedicated people!
Energy is definitely contagious & I don’t always “feel” like working out, but my tribe always gets me there by the time we begin the workout

Before I became a trainer or gym owner I was just a person who liked to be active. But through child baring and life I learned the hard way my body could be malleable in a positive or negative way depending upon what my daily habits looked like…
I know I’m not the only person that’s been on this journey, but I also know that a lot of people in today’s day and age will only show you the highlights and they don’t want to pull out the fat girl pictures or tell you about the nights they cried thinking that things will never change. Or the countless times they wanted to quit because it just simply felt too hard.
Not to discredit any of those feelings because they’re very Real! But what’s also very real is the life you live today and the future you want to live going forward! If there’s anything worth fighting for it’s that!
So keep going, you got this!

Let not get off on the wrong foot, I’m not talking from a space of narcissism, more like a space of curiosity and understanding
We go through life trying to process emotions, experiences and interactions without understanding ourselves.
Where does that leave us? Seeing life through distorted filters. This can lead us to living a life that no longer serves us.
I know I know hella deep. But for real. How much of what you do is to make you truly happy, outside of societies influence or negative self talk?
We prime ourselves daily by what we think and say about ourselves! I encourage you to get to know you better, you won’t regret it 😘🥰
SPINACH AND CHEESE STUFFED CHICKEN
INGREDIENTS
* Chicken Breasts: Boneless and skinless. Ideally, go for organic/free-range.
* Seasoning: Italian seasoning, onion powder, and garlic powder.
* Red Pepper Flakes: To your taste.
* Cheese: A mix of ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan. Ideally, shred your own as pre-shredded doesn’t melt as well.
* Olive Oil
* Spinach: Steamed until just wilted, then squeezed dry with paper.
* Garlic: Freshly minced is best.
* Salt: Divided
HOW TO MAKE THIS SPINACH AND CHEESE STUFFED CHICKEN
* Make the Marinade: In a small bowl, mix olive oil, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, garlic
* powder, onion powder, and salt.
* Cut the Chicken: Using a sharp, cut a pocket in the chicken, don’t cut all the way through. Then rub with marinade and store in the fridge until ready to use.
* Make the Filling: Mix ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese,
* spinach, and garlic.
* Cook: Stuff the filling into the chicken and bake for 25 mins.

There are never enough outlets to give you different tools and perspectives for how to go through life.
As beautiful as life is, it’s filled with highs and lows. We often over celebrate the highs and dread the lows, when the truth is, we should treat both equally, as an external experience not determining our value or worth.
Life is a string of situations that take us through a gambit of emotions and experiences to hopefully teach us lesson we can pass down.

No but seriously it’s so important to move your body through it’s full range of motion. Because as we all know what you don’t use you loose. So if it’s on your own, with a buddy or seeing a stretch therapist to help you relieve pain tension and reduce inflammation get it in 😉😘
These meal prep bowls stay good for up to 3 days in the fridge, and are great eaten cold. I love to heat mine up, including the salsa and stir everything together then enjoy.👌
4 servings
Ingredients:
2 cups cooked brown rice, or quinoa
1 Tbsp avocado oil, or olive oil, or unrefined coconut oil
1-1/2 lbs. peeled and deveined shrimp
sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
For salsa:
2 cups diced fresh pineapple
1 medium sweet red bell pepper, diced
1 small red onion, finely diced
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
1 small jalapeño pepper, finely diced (optional, adds heat)
2 Tbsps fresh squeezed lime juice
For the dressing:
1/2 cup coconut yogurt, or plain Greek yogurt
2 Tbsps fresh squeezed lime juice
1 tsp chili flakes
1 tsp fresh lime zest, or to taste
2 cloves fresh garlic minced, or 1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp sea salt, or to taste
1/8 tsp ground pepper, or to taste 👅
