We're always excited to share others' excitement! 😀 Thanks for posting! Happy Friday to all!

The Dennis Project team is preparing for our Girl Rep in STEM: ChangeMakers program - a 12-session STEM and SEL series for middle school BIPOC girls. I'm SUPER excited about the workshop entitled "Wear Your Crown". Thanks to Techbridge Girls for providing STEM curriculum that gives our girls a voice!

It's a 2-part session centering on coily and curly hair, girls* learn about Dr. Tamarra James-Todd and her work to expose the Hidden Stories behind chemicals in shampoo. They'll learn about controversial chemicals in shampoo, and conduct a foam test to measure sulfate content.

Part two - The girls build upon the long lineage of cultural haircare methods and histories of Black women entrepreneurs developing products formulated for their hair textures; the foundational story of Madame CJ Walker and how Zandra Cunningham is continuing her chemical engineering legacy through her product line. They'll make their own shampoo for their hair texture, test its pH, and label and present it. The session will end with affirmations that encourage ChangeMakers to wear their crown!
